Some quick questions for anyone who knows about the Marco Polo club.

When flying qantas, I need to be booked in full Y to earn 100% of miles flown. Domestically, is this the fully flexible option or does flexi-saver also count as Y.

When flying CHC to SYD, can I book with an AA code (assuming through a good travel agent) in order to use a lower fare class and still get the 100% miles. (If there isn't an AA code share CHC-SYD, then AKL-SYD).

I assume Jetstar fully flexible would not earn MPC miles. Is this correct?

Thanks

I don’t think flexi-saver would be Y, otherwise they’d have no reason to charge more for fully-flexible.

I guess if you booked with an AA code you’d get miles based on whatever their fare classes are. You could also look into flying LAN AKL-SYD, depending on how well they earn through MPC, as they have some very cheap Y and J fares.

You are correct in assuming that Jetstar does not earn miles, as they’re not a OW member.

Generally an AA codeshare for a QF domestic or Trans-Tasman flight can only be booked in conjunction with an AA code to/from Australia/USA.

Didnt think of LAN. A quick dummy booking shows I can fly AKL-SYD on the day I want to for US$112 and earn 100% MPC miles (booking class N). For the same miles on QF, I pay $642.

But its a 5:55 flight. I'm not sure if I'm that hard pressed for miles. I may just stick with NZ via CHC for outbound :-)
