Recently stayed at the Mayfair Hotel in Adelaide. This first opened in about October 2014. Overall this was a pretty excellent experience.
The hotel has been built into the Colonial Mutual Building on King William St, corner of Hindley St. Excellent location for the Mall, Casino, North Terrace, Parliament House and Jamie's Italian.
This is a luxury hotel by their own description. The rooms match up to that, pretty much. We stayed in a Deluxe King room for less than $200. Rooms are available for as low as $169 a night next week. As such the price is good. The website does mention executive rooms with access to an executive lounge. I couldn't find a way to book one of these rooms online, unfortunately. The standard room had a decent shower space (rain shower), decent amenities (Appelles Apothecary skincare range) and the usual cupboards and safes. It was also fully equipped for entertainment. Dual USB port clock radio, wifi, multiple media connections to the TV. Pictures to follow.
Valet parking is available, there is a side entrance on Hindley St, but on street space is limited. The hotel puts out cones to block off the area in front of the hotel. The best way to access this area is by turning left off King William St while travelling northwards. I had to double park for about 15 minutes before getting room to park. The great, and surprising, part is that not a single car came from behind me during that time.
Due to a late booking issue we ended up in the hotel restaurant (Mayflower Restaurant) for our anniversary dinner. I called the morning of our stay and the breakfast manager got a table for 2 for us, despite it being booked out. There ended up being two large groups in that night, a hen's night with about 25 and another group of about 15 to 20. Great of the restaurant to take on a table of 2 as well. We got to met the chef before dinner. The quality of the food was excellent. Beautiful oysters from the west coast, Coffin Bay, lobster and steak. Again pictures to follow once I get into this thread on the phone.
Overall, I'd recommend the hotel as well as the restaurant. Not sure if price will increase once they become more popular.
