Hi Everyone

Can someone please confirm the MCT Brisbane Airport Domestic to International all on Qantas?

I'm a points club member and the original booking was done as a Rewards booking in Business when Qantas was running a DSC promotion.

I had the following: QF500 Syd-Bne 6:00-7:30 connecting to QF119 Bne-Akl 9:10-:14:20.
QF119 departure time has now been changed to 8:40 giving 1hr 10 mins connection time.

If I go to changes there are no changes available at all on the day of travel, and only a few the day before.
Changes available for the day before
- To Akl on China Airlines which doesn't suit me at all in my situation
- Bne to Akl on QF125 (which arrives just before midnight) connecting from Syd with either a 2hr 20mins or 1hr 15mins connection time
- syd-mel-akl 6:00-7:35 then 9:25-15:05

Flight is in about 2 months time.
Depart over the Easter long weekend 😬

Good to know the MCT 👍 thanks.

Will likely be HLO as I have 4 nights in Auckland before a 6am or so flight to Ool via Mel.

How important is it that you arrive on time at your destination? If it's critical, then this simply won't work at all. Yes if the stars align and the new Qantas flight you are on arrives at 8:40 AM, you will have just enough time to make the connection. But if it gets delayed, even a little bit you could very easily misconnect. Remember, Brisbane much like Sydney has a poorly thought out airport. You have to catch a bus/train to get to the international terminal (unlike Melbourne where you can simply walk to the international terminal located directly beside the Qantas' terminal), clear emmigration (another Australian oddity) and international security. All of this can take time, even if you have business fast track.

What I would do, and this is gonna sound crazy, but hear me out: pick up the phone and call Qantas and see what your options are. The fact of the matter is, Qantas does not provide all available flights on their online rebooking tool. If you call and speak with an agent chances are they will be able to get you onto a non-stop flight to Auckland. And I know what you're going to say, "what about those status credits on the connecting flight?" This is where our friend, the original routing credit (ORC) comes into play. Essentially, after you take your flights you call Qantas back up, explain that Qantas had to rebook you onto a nonstop flight due to a schedule change and that you are claiming original routing credit for the flights you booked. Qantas should then be able to look into their system and retroactively apply the status credits you should have earned (including the double status credits).

One other point, if you don't need to get to AKL on time, the other thing to think about is a circuitous routing. For instance, why fly Sydney to Auckland (via Brisbane) if you could fly Sydney to Auckland (via Canberra, Melbourne)? More flights means more status credits which in turn gets doubled thanks to the double status credit promotion.

Im contemplating a I-D of exactly 90mins at BNE. There arr additional connecting flights, but kind of want to try and hop on an a220.
