Sunday arrives and it was time to return to NW Tasmania.A journey I had made many times before without many problems. But that morning I awoke with an uncomfortable feeling. Why?The first hint was when I went to check in online for my VA flight MCY-MEL.There was the booking but that is not my VA number.I tried to edit the booking but no way was it going to let me put my number in.No problems I will get it fixed at the airport.
Now the only reason I checkin online knowing I have to interline my bag to Rex so it really isn't a simple bag drop is because the bag drop line at MCY is always shorter than the check in line.I had one of my favourite seats down the back-28D.So I proceed to the VA agent.Another new one so I teach her how to interline with Rex-I am sure that VA when they see me flying out of MCY work out who they want to be taught the delights of interlining.Despite that success she could not change the Velocity number. Now these flights are booked for me.Out of an office in Melbourne. An uncomfortable feeling returns-have they hired Griselda's neice!

So I am sent to the supervisor who feels she can change the number.First she has to offload me from the flight. Then discovers she cant change it and when she goes to check me in 28C has gone.I am sure the look on my face was like looking at Tony Hancock sitting in BA Y.So she gives me a new seat 3D.What every VA red member who ends every year with no points and no SCs deserves-sorry Mr. Hancock.
Now it had been raining that morning but as I got through security the storm hit and MCY closed.Boarding of the JQ and NZ flights stopped. When the time came for the arrival of the VA MEL flight it was announced it had gone into a holding pattern.A message that was repeated every 10 minutes on 6 occasions. That uncomfortable feeling was getting worse. Not helped by talking to the VA gate agent who felt if it didn't land in the next 20 minutes it would divert to Brisbane. Here I am dreading the thoughts at another night at the Formule 1 at MEL.
But it lands an hour late and soon boarding starts but first 2 wheelchair pax need the hoist and a rabble of infants preboarding. But then the tanty-the VA SYD flight landed just after the MEL plane. It was only 20 minutes late. However a woman behind me marches up to the gate agent and demands to know when she could board shoving her BP in the agent's face. But you are on the SYD flight and this is the MEL flight.
Full tanty begins-but my flight is already late so why are you boarding the MEL flight-because it was due out first.Unacceptable.What atrocious service. You lot are so incompetent! Fortunately she then goes off in a huff-

So board and who said shadows have disappeared-Us reds get one.

The good part is now I only have 3 hours to while away in T4 instead of 4.30 hours waiting for my ZL flight.Have a lunner of acceptable sushi/sashimi and the while away the remaining time on the computer. But prior to that when I checked in with Rex I am remembered by the agent-Hi doc going back to the hospital. He then graciously says I'll give you an exit row.Turned out to be not just an exit row but 1C.And on boarding no one else in row 1 or 2.There you go.Lack of status brings benefits-sorry Mr.Hancock.

Lots more legroom and another flight that was a definite shades up-
