Hi, I want to book a flight MEL to CNS via Brisbane for myself, but only MEL to BNE for my partner. (Both of us being on same MEL to BNE flight)

Is there anyway to book this online?

Or if I book them separately, can the GCC link the bookings so I can do seat selection benefits for myself (platinum) and my partner (no status)

Alternatively could book them via GCC at a cost of $40/person ($80 all up)

Or just book both flights online MEL to CNS via BNE (and partner doesn't take the BNE to CNS flight). Fee difference less than $80 to book via GCC

Thanks

Book separately online and then ring call center and ask them to link the Bne-cns section... it shouldn’t be a problem I wouldn’t think. Although I must admit I have only done it for same destination and location... eg. linking myfree Amex flight to a paid flight for my partner... I don’t see why it should be any different

I've done something similar before, but thanks to people here I was reminded that if you both wanted to make use of the free upgrade to Economy X they needed to be on the same booking. Up to you if you want to sit in Economy X or not.

But if you got them to link it wouldn’t you then be on the same booking and thus be able to select economy comfort?

Not necessarily, I've done this twice and each time the Booking Numbers were different. Both times I booked online and called the GCC to "link" the bookings. The GCC stated that the bookings are "linked" such that there are notes in the system indicating we are travelling together and since I was Gold was able to bring my friends into row 7 when they couldn't select it online. When it came to check in however we had to check in separately despite our bookings being "linked". I hope this helps.
