Melb to Nadi - No lounge access....

family just booked a quick Fiji break and we have noticed there is NO lounge access for flights to Nadi....ex Melbourne international....If I was going to LA NZ apparently I can use the AirNZ lounge...

Has anyone else come across this and or have they politely asked for access to the Koru Lounge..

Its a early Sunday flight so surely the lounges could be quiet....

Pacific island flights are specifically excluded from the co-operative agreement. It has always been the case with this.

To access an Air NZ lounge in Australia, Virgin will issue you with a printed invite at check-in. Without this invite (i.e. "card flash" only, Air NZ will refer/reject you back to Virgin for the appropriate paperwork to gain access.)

But overall I agree with the concept that Virgin needs International lounge access for ALL flights for ALL relevant (WP, SG & IMO lounge membership) card holders ASAP, or risks significant consumer backlash (particularly from recently status converts).

Thanks for the replies, I am more disappointed that as a Gold Status (soon to be Platinum) there is no lounge access for a major route of Melbourne-Nadi.....but there is for a AKL flight....which is a shorter flight.

This one is a pet issue of mine as well. I'm pretty sure they've got the message and will eventually get around to fixing it - there was an article that said that there was a short haul international business revamp coming in the first half of this year. I would hope its on the agenda.

The last line of the table is "Virgin Australia International Short Haul flights - ex Denpasar". Presumably that's the only short haul international lounge access that's currently available.

On this - I spoke to a Lounge rep on the phone the other day and she said they are introducing Lounge Membership cards later this year to help alleviate the problems with DJ guests having trouble with the NZ lounges, domestically (in NZ) or internationally.
