Hi all,

Been told to review\compare the car options for Melbourne.
Regular car hire person for female on business in Melbourne.
Have been with Eurocar PRIVILEDGE and had the $3500 excess paid once in 10 years!

Need a small\Economy auto...Getz or similar(cruise would be good, and radio controls on steering wheel)
Unlimited kms, pickup and drop off Melbourne airport.....AT LEAST 12 DAYS A Month car hire.

Currently quoted: About $66 day.

($795.36 for 12 days unlimited mileage, damage liability $1600 approx)

Got a link or if any Hire car company can directly contact.

Recommendations welcome.
Must have car available for pickup, Likely SUNDAYS!

You missing an important item, when, car hire rates are seasonal by day!

Also is it monthly or 12 days, different rates are applicable.

Off airport hire & and taxi to be may be cheaper over a month
Airport pick up has a charge

I generally us Qantas to gauge which is cheapest, with a 12 day hire its often better to say two weeks and drop back early, for mid Oct downtown:

Hi There,

Redspot car rentals at in the Melbourne airport and downtown Melbourne, and have a small Getz for $62.40 p/day on a 12 day rate + it includes a $0 damage liability and free toll tag pass. Just type into the business club / promo entry box 'CDBATWTR" to get the above rate.
FYI - Melbourne city is closed on Sundays, however the airport office is open 24/7.

Cheers

Brad

I use Redspot from MEL, just be aware if you don't already know, that these are the LCC of car rental companies. I've rarely got the vehicle I asked for, usually they are filthy (not just dirty, really filthy) and quite often damaged.

Having said that, they are conveniently located, cheap, and most vehicles seem to come with a $0 damage excess.

Try Skyscanner.com.au - it has a hire care area. $33 a day must be getting close to optimum.
British netflights is another spot to try. Play with currency options to avoid conversion.

Its not as good as Booko: Compare book & DVD prices in Australia with Booko for books, but skyscanner is getting there.

I just used Virgins (.au) site as it is usually a few cents cheaper than vroomVroom.

Virgin say they have a price guarantee form, which I just spent 1 hour trying to claim $7 where the form was rejecting .jpg images - but thats what it asked for. If successful gets a coupon for another days car hire.

And for that much hire, grab ANZ's CC $2 month insurance
