I was cleaning out my garage on the weekend and came across an old Australian Airlines golf umbrella that was a bit worse for wear and I had to throw it out. I got to thinking about what airline memorabilia people would have from days gone by.
I've got a Qantas Masters golf ball, an Australian Airlines golf ball, an Ansett golf ball, and an Australian Airlines golf towell.
I've also got an old Australian Airlines boarding pass for Flight 12 from Sydney to Adelaide showing me as a *** Flight Deck Club Member ***.
And the biggy is my TAA ticket for Melbourne to Adelaide Flight 518 and Adelaide to Melbourne on the weekend of 29/11/68 costing me $21.90 each way. Special because thats the weekend that I flew home from HMAS Cerberus to propose to my now wife.
What else is lying around out there?

What else is lying around out there?

I have 2 pair of Ansett Australia headphones, from when some friends of mine roped me in to helping them out and being in their group in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian MardiGras 2001. One pair is the ones I used on the flight, the other is an unused pair still in their sealed bag. I wish I'd had that opened pair with me back on Thursday for QF556 as the Qantas headphones I grabbed while boarding were only working on the left channel.

A pair of Egypt Air headphones from a friend from overseas.

I found some guest passes to The Gold Wing lounge, along with my last membership card. I'm wondering if DJ will honour them?

I know I have a Qantas bag from the 70's kicking around somewhere. I remember it as a kid!

A friend has playing cards and a model airplane from the old days flying Olympic Airways.

I have been collecting things from travel over the last 7 years which may be classed as memorabilia in 20+ years time.

I remember discussing this in the off-topic thread sometime back, but my list is pretty long (and it's about time I documented anyway so this is a good time as any);

  • Ansett (and their former variations)
    • 20x+ Ansett Golden Wing passes issued across the 80's, 90's and 00's
    • 20x Ansett Business Class boarding passes (mint condition, unused)
    • Ansett Australia baseball cap
    • Ansett Australia advertising jingle - "Getting so much better", on double sided 45RPM vinyl record
    • Ansett cycling jersey, circa very early 1990's
    • Ansett airlines of NSW Spring 1970 timetable
    • Ansett Flight souvenir (circa 1970's)
    • Ansett airlines 70's flight attendant lapel pin
    • Ansett Australia Sydney 2000 Olympics lapel pin (boarding pass)
    • Ansett Australia pilot's wings
  • Qantas
    • Edition 1, Qantas AIR magazine
    • I still call Australia home - The Qantas story 1920-2005 by Malcolm Knox
    • Qantas Kangaroo lapel pins from 60's, 70's and late 80's.
    • Qantas Millennium celebration coin
  • British Airways
    • British Airways Concorde passenger pack - charter services circa early 1990's (plastic case)
    • British Airways Concorde passenger pack - regular service circa early 1990's (lined leather), including gift (bound notebook) and certificate
    • British Airways concord metal baggage tag circa late 1990's (mint)
    • British Airways news (staff magazine) March 27 2008 - Opening of LHR T5, with staff pocket guide to T5
  • PanAm
    • PanAm A300 safety card
    • PanAm WorldPass membership card (age unknown)
  • Misc
    • Ticket jackets from assorted airlines (mint condition), some circa 1960's and even from defunct airlines including Northwest Orient, ATA, Western Pacific, Saeta, Transamerica, Frontier, America West, Eastern, Northwest - and my prized ones, TWA, National Airlines, PanAm (1x Economy and 1x First Class)
    • TAA Kanga Club pin
    • OneWorld lapel pin
    • Lufthansa A380 commemorative lanyard & pin
    • Boeing lapel pin
    • Various lanyards from carriers, airports and aviation companies, including lanyards only issued to staff, personal favourite of these is the one from Koln Bonn (CGN)
So yes, just a few items ;)

I've got a few bits and pieces...
  • A big Australian Airlines poster
  • A big JAL poster from around the same era (I have no recollection where either of these came from..)
  • A Panorama magazine from July 2000
  • A The Australian Way magazine from May 1991 :!:
  • Various other (less interesting) airline magazines from around the world
  • Postcards from a couple airlines .. AN and NH
  • A round deck of QF playing cards from the 1970s
  • Various other airline playing cards ... QF, TG, U2, LH, NF, CX, EI and RFDS of all things
I threw out all my old boarding passes - I usually only keep specific ones as mementos if there's a reason for it. As an aside, do airlines even get playing cards printed up any more?

Good question! I've got 2 packets of AN playing cards sitting in my drawer.

Thanks for the reminder about the airline mags, almost forgot those. I've made a point of getting a close to mint copy of them from any airline I fly each month.

They act as an additional reminder of when I've flown, and some of them occasionally act as good reference material when doing trip research.

Have a bottle of unopened port in an nice timber box (I think it's port, haven't looked for many years) given to my father by Ansett with his name printed on the bottle label for being its most frequent flyer of the month.

Every "Qantas - The Australian Way" in flight magazine since October 1994 (Much to SWMBO's chagrin ;)).

Also, the "Qantas Club" magazine from 1995 until they were discontinued (a precursor to Air).

All my collectables are QF:

Tie Pins (lots of them in size, metal and design) - from the earliest flying roo to the last issue Y, J and F triangle pin
Tie clips - original flight crew items
A380 first flight pins and information card
Very old unused luggage tags (Qantas Regular Traveller) - white vinyl type with cardboard inserts
Staff pins - Olympic games and Commonwealth games
Gold Koala pin with opal insert - V cool
A couple of unused "The Fijian" (Fly Qantas) beer coasters
The complete set of Air Magazine to date with the original introduction letter
A selection of QP passes
A $250 and a $500 voucher - I don't know how long they will be collection items for though :)
All my QF FF cards - that is, 1 bronze, 1 silver, 1 QP (9 months unused!), 1 gold and lots and lots of Platinum ;)

I have been given a few items from AFF members - thanks again to those who have!

(and some TAA matches)

Only have memories....

Mrs ejb is very concerned with keeping order in the house, and clutter out.

I have a rather large Australian Airlines flag that I 'acquired' at the post Sydney-Hobart race new year celebrations in Constitution Dock, Hobart in 1986/87.
