My mother-in-law wants to treat her husband to business class for his 60th birthday. The decision has been narrowed down to MH or QF as he is keen to stopover in KL or SIN. I found an old thread from 2010 - anyone able to give updated opinion. Many thanks

I agree, but she's almost having a coronary at $5600 for Malaysian!

This might beg the question of whether Qantas will even by flying to Frankfurt soon, as that route's rumoured for the chop as part of the Qantas-Emirates deal expected to be announced this Thursday.

You haven't mentioned the timeframe for this trip but if it's anytime after late November he could do MAS and get one of their new A380s from KL to Sydney.

They're travelling mid December and they can do the A380 SYD - KUL but it's the 777-200 FRA - KUL that bothers me - we flew SQ in J in one of these and every time someone walked down the aisle it felt like a herd of elephants. The 777 - 300 however was sublime.

I would choose MH over QF for international J. I have consistently had good experiences with them. You will get the B777-200 from FRA to KUL and the seat is an angled lie-flat bed but the KUL-SYD sector should have the A380, which have the fully flat-bed seats. Stopping over in KUL is so much better than SIN too.
As for the feeling that a herd of elephants are on the plane when people walk on the aisles, the MH air stewardesses are much more petite and tend not to thump the floor like their caucasian counterparts. ;)
