Hi Everyone

I booked a QFi reward seat on CX metal for the first time. I found that the middle name on the passport was not on the ticket. Will this causing any problem when boarding on a CX metal international flight?

Cheers

Never have been asked about my middle name missing on any int airline for boarding.
They just glance to see passport matches BP.
Imagine if they fussed on the many Indonesians who only have 1 name.
Not been asked on my any of my EK flights either.

This has been the subject of a number of threads on AFF.

Overwhelming consensus answer is NO: Your middle name is not required in an international airline booking.

I have 2 passports, one with my middle name and one without.
The check in staff can choose whichever passport they like.

I think the boarding pass is a little less important than the APIS information for countries that worry about it (eg: USA).

Mostly it's not an issue on the BP. One time flying out of SIN the agent just wrote my middle name on the BP in pen which seemed weird, but whatever workes. Later flights ex-SIN never had been an issue, so probably just one agent being overly cautious. I don't really care (except that I don't like my middle name!)

I know some agents specifically do NOT book with middle names as it has caused problems in the past which seems odd, but mileage may vary.

I wouldn't worry for most destinations, but some others I'd be more concerned about (such as the aforementioned USA) but in that case I ensure the APIS is entered correctly and never an issue.

No issues from experience, have a good trip!

I have redemeed many QF points for CX flights over the years and never had my middle name on the ticket

I rarely book with my middle name and never have any issues - and if they don't like it they can seemingly add it at check-in anyway (as one AA agent did to me last year).

Thanks folk for prompt reply. I will not bother about this issue then.

Many thanks indeed.

Mrs AusATC doesn't have a middle name, but a hyphenated first name (the second part of which she prefers not to use). Airlines do not like hyphens, so to make her name reasonably close to her passport, so for most bookings, we just drop the hyphen and make it all one word. As opposed to just using the first part she prefers. Her QFF account name is the same, but her VFF profile includes the hyphen.
