Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has experience of the process for checked baggage where a reward flight is booked from say ADL-SYD via MEL and one doesn't board the MEL-SYD leg.

Should it be requested at check-in in Adelaide for the bag to only be checked through to Melbourne, or could it be requested at the lounge in Melbourne if a last minute change of plans?

Thanks.

This is usually a 'no-no' (what you're proposing happens to be an artefact of some loopholes the airlines try to stamp out).

You best (only?) option is to ask the bag to be tagged to MEL, and not all the way to the final destination. It is up to the check-in staff whether your request is honoured.

Wouldn't it be easier to cancel the MEL-SYD leg?
