Does anyone know how it's calculated? Wanted to get to CPT/JNB on SQ but F on the first SYD-SIN segment and J in SIN-CPT.

I believe it would be calculated at F for the entire trip. You would need to book over the phone. I do this route regularly and just slum it in J the whole way.

I've tried but they kept pricing it as two awards. I'll give it another go. It seems that others have noted that VA has a limitation where I can't do what I want to do

Sorry, should have clarified. Are you booking with VA or SQ? I believe it's always better value to transfer points to SQ and deal with them.
