I was wondering if there are many AFF members who are ending 2011 with more points than at the start of 2011?
In my case I haven't redeemed a flight on Velocity so that account is growing but the others at SQ and QF are about neutral.

Across the board, QFF because my wife and I got 70K points via the Onepath debacle but not used because I only have enough to get to NZ (don't fly or credit QF much these days) and can get < $300 flights on Air NZ on a regular basis. US air about 100K spread via my family due to the GrandSlam but am holding off buying more as not sure about the 100% bonus at todays exchange rate. Siingapore about 220K between me and my wife dues largely to the Westpac KF card Amex and paying tax bills on Amex. Waiting to use probably on a Business/First trip to Europe in 2013.
Also my oldest daughter is doing HSC next year so aside from a trip to New York (on US Air points) won't be doing that much travel. But wait for 2013!

Have ended the year with a much higher balance. SQ 1,185,000, QF 489,100, VA 2,600,000, VS 590,000 Amex 600,000, Altitude 150,000 bonus offers really helped

We seem to have improved our redeeming skills in 2011 and as fast as we are making the points we have been finding places to go!
We are big fans of making and burning points so if the music ever stops we could not ever say "if only".

Probably less or maybe about the same as not a big earner of them and redeemed a 140K OW award and bought the miles and then have booked a US Air *A award for next year....

No where near it. I don't earn at cove's rate :( and have recently dumped about 400k of points into Mrs 11sjw, Jr 11sjw and I going to Hawaii in July next year.

This means we're well down!

11sjw family to Hawaii....now that is a good idea on depleting the reserves.
I booked 2 to Los Angeles on SQ in J so I seem to be churning through them.....a few months ago I had started to warehouse some points for SQ to avoid the 3 year expiry but I really don't need to do that at the moment. We may come home thru New York,London,Singapore to Perth.

Mine are up substantially, but that's because I didn't use any this year.

Will be using 1,000,000 early in the new year so my niece and her friend can have a nice trip to LHR with her favourite uncle!!

QF down to ~10k pts filling a series of JASA redemptions.

Velocity account slowly climbing.

My Qantas balance is looking pretty healthy at the moment. Every week this year (except for two weeks in Jan due to floods) I have flown on at least 2 paid flights. I haven't had the time to consider doing any extra flying.

Although I have booked a flight on MH in two weeks time because some of my Enrich points are due to expire at the end of the year.

nope definitely lower here. Did a points (classic award ) J trip with SWMBO to Europe, have a YASA for two return to BKK coming and booked a JASA to Europe for next year and am now at about 25000 :(

Now lets start earning some more :D

I always earn more than I'm able to spend... unless I luck out and manage to find enough F seats for a OW RTW ticket!

I'm currently sitting on just over 240k QF points, approx double what I started the year with, and I've used 151k points on upgrades and stuff in that time as well.

Don't forget that if you subscribe to Expert Flyer you can set up 'flight alerts' for your desired class (eg "U" for a JASA) on a particular flight so they will email you the minute this class becomes available. You can then set up an alert for your email to SMS you the minute you get an email from E/F so you can grab those seats asap.

This enabled us to make a booking on 23 Oct for travel HNL/SYD/BNE 02 December.

I can't say enough how great this feature is as it's like having a fairy godmother at your airline of choice giving you a heads up when the seats become available.

There's also another feature called 'seat alert' so if you are seeking 80A or 80K on the A380 & it's currently taken, E/F will email you should those seats suddenly become available.

If you are a Gold member of AFF you get a 15% discount on E/F membership. IMHO it's worth it's weight in gold. :p

Hmm - probably about even really...

But what I have done is changed my ways;

I've gone from a Westpac Business Choice card earning .66 and no idea how to best utilize points (apart for upgrades) to a suite of cards that will earn me 1.5 (except for QF - need to sort that) and half an idea on how to best utilize them for my situation.

I've burned 500k QF points this year on Int'l upgrades and JASA's transcons. Have gone from Bronze to Platinum in 11 months.

Now have a healthy balance with SQ, CitiBank warehoused and enough points with QF to get where I need to go without topping up.

Definitely in front thanks to the blogs and post on AFF.

Cheers,
Pete

Nope. But then I've recently booked two JASA returns to HKG and one FASA return to HKG ;)
