Moving from a regular to affinity Platinum Edge

I recently found out my wife is eligible for an affinity Platinum Edge card, we already have one directly from Amex but I was wondering if we could switch over the card without losing the points balance in the Ascent Membership Rewards account. She's only a supplementary cardholder in the current setup, is there is some way we can migrate the account?

As the new card account would be in her name, and the existing account for which she has a supplementary card is in your name (I assume its in your name), I expect you will not be able to link your existing MR account to her new card. But you will likely get the best advice on this matter by calling Amex and asking them.

If I can't transfer my own account from a normal retail product to an affinity one then I don't like your chances at all.
