I've tried to find the information on their website without success - does anyone know if a QF Gold flying domestically in Y on MU on a MU ticket gets any extra baggage allowance? The MU website isn't the most information-filled airline website that I have ever seen, but there are a couple of odd things amongst what is there - in Y the normal allowance is 20kg - but pieces can weigh up to 50kg each!

If anyone does know any tricks to booking MU domestic flights with a QF code and can let me know that would be appreciated!

You can't.

As is common with pretty much all codeshares, you can only book them as part of an international QF flight.

In this case, even if the domestic MU sector has a QF code on it, you could only get it as part of a int fare, such as xx_-SHA-SYD.

Why? QF do not have rights to sell the individual sectors (ie intra china) as their own flights.

OK cheers! Will run with the MU flights then and just collect the points

Just curious where are you flying domestically anyways? Unless you're doing a longer distance hop, its easier to take the train.

Shanghai to Chengdu then Chengdu to Jinan - the locals are telling me the train takes a long time to and from Chengdu - I haven't checked to see if it is connected by high speed rail.

Ah fair enough that would be a distance I'd fly.

If you want you could also status match to a Skyteam with your QFG and get elite plus. It would mean earning miles on the program you chose for skyteam but does offer you some more benefits.

Cheers - will get the flights booked!

The QF FF program will be enough for me at the moment - just one program can be enough headaches at times :D
