Thanks. Is both 7 and 8 weight restricted? Have been reading about 8 being restricted, just wanted to make sure 7 is too, I guess it would make sense it would be?QF7 is weight restricted, so never full. If you book down the back, you can often get a row to yourself (sit in the aisle so people don't walk by thinking the aisle and middle are empty as you sleep in the window, and "join" your row (as someone did on my last QF8).
QF7/8 felt REALLY long, but could have been psychological knowing I was on a longer flight.
Also if Amex Plat, the Amex lounge in DFW is great, if you don't have status for lounge access otherwise.
Your domestic journey (if Dallas is not your final destination) may be limited, as AA dominates DFW, while you have several options of carrier out of LAX.

Yeah I like DFW a lot. Looking like I'll go QF7 and grab 80KI like the arrival time at DFW.... also some great restaurants if you stay the night.
Sorry. My bad. That’s correct. It’s only weight restricted coming back.QF7 is not weight restricted.

We had a really 'helpful' crew on the QF7 a few years ago... the plane wasn't full and they proactively moved passengers around to give everyone the opportunity for a spare seat beside them. If you'd snagged a row of three or four you lost it pretty quick as they moved someone into the spare seat leaving only the middles free. So no 'beds' for anyone.
Correct, they shouldn't move anyone into your row, if you've paid for it.Yeah not very helpful lol. I wonder how that works now though, if they're offering a row for $250, surely they wouldn't be moving people into that row after boarding?

I would take extra legroom, and a valium, over a row.I'm assuming that the $190/equivalent points for an extra legroom seat wouldn't be refunded if I asked for an empty row (if available) for QF8?
Trying to decide which would be more sought after, laying down, or noone reclining into me?
Interesting. Did they actively make everyone move back to assigned seats for landing?

Also, I've been reading about how qf8, in the past, had needed to stop in Nadi, NZ etc. I'm assuming due to this weight restriction. Does this happen much anymore?
