Multi City Booking mixed class

Hi all

I am looking to book Perth to Jakarta flight via Singapore.
If i search as one classic reward booking, both legs will be in economy.

However if i book using multi city tool and book it seperately (flight 1 and 2) i can get business class PER-SIN with Qantas and SIN-CGK with Jetstar economy. That's the only way to get PER-SIN in business class.

My questions are:
1. Do you forsee any issue doing this or this is quite normal? Or is it best to book it as 2 seperate one way booking (not multicity)? Considering booking as 1 flight only comes up with economy only for both legs. I thought normally even if there is a mixed class, you are still able to see it through normal booking.
2. If i use multi city tool, it says that i will also get 40kg baggage allowance for Jetstar Economy. Does this sound right?
3. Will my bags check in all the way through final destination by using multi city tool? Or i need to go out to Singapore and recheck in again.

4. Though the idea of getting my bag and recheck in again is not a bad idea considering how many lost baggage Qantas and Jetstar had recently. Is this also an option to get my bag out in Singapore?I have 3 hours transit.

Thank you!

I would book using multi city because flights will then be on the same ticket. If you book 2 one ways, you’re at risk of miss connection and it will also be harder to sort if one of the flight is moved or cancelled.

I can’t confirm the increased luggage, but based on my experiences in usa, it doesnt surprise me.

I would prefer my bags are checked through, because if the first flight is delayed, you may not have enough time.

Thanks for your advice. I guess the downside is with multi city, i cant just cancel 1 leg should i need to make amendment on one of the legs only

Yes you can, but you would need to deal with the call centre.

Book it as multicity.
This is normal and just fine. The tool used just creates the one PNR and is sometimes more helpful (which is why QF keep it around). It should be don.

The WORST thing you can do (in my view, anyway!) is to book this as two separate one ways!!!

1. Two different PNR's mean if the first is delayed or late you have NO protection. bad
2. You may end up doubling up on some taxes and charges for the two separate bookings

I can't restate 1. above more fully. You're asking for trouble with little benefit. If you can find the Business seat PER-SIN (there's another thread about this issue? :) ) then onwards go for it!!

And yes,the Business bag allowance should flow through, though I'm unsure how 3K (Jetstar Asia) may treat this given they're a ULCC - I'm honestly unsure how they would deal with that aspect so may need to confirm that.

Thank you for your advice! I will certainly will book using multicity. Perhaps I will check during check in on whether they will transfer my bag to my final destination or not.

However im curious, what is the transit time limit for them to transfer my checked baggage to onwards flight? Is it 24 hrs? Say what happen if my second leg with Jetstar is next day (ie spend a night in Changi). I assume they will not do through check in?

@RichardMEL
I have been trying Multicity for months now to try and be prepared for flights coming up next year and I get part, half or nearly all the way through and it comes up with an error and I just can't figure out where I am going wrong! I have changed cities, dates etc and can't work it out. Any suggestions to make it work?
Thank you.

I'm sorry to read this. The chances are it's NOT anything you're doing wrong but either a fail with the tool (likely) or an issue like married segments or something getting in the way of whatever you're trying to book.

Have you tried calling QF and explaining what you're trying to book and that you're getting errors? (assistance fees should be waived if you can't book online)
