Does anyone have experience with being a member of multiple FF programmes? Now that QF has made it so very hard to get from PER to HKG, I'm wondering whether I should just give up trying to stick with QF and join the CX Marco Polo Club. I really don't like CX - very uncomfortable seats in Y - but I feel that I'm running out of options.

If you are not in multiple ff programs and indeed multiple alliances then you are not maximizing your earn and burn opportunities. All but the lowest earners should be in multiple programs.

Splitting of 'loyalty' highly recommended but I would suggest only across airline alliances, not within them. Join a Star Alliance program such as SQ's KrisFlyer, or possibly better, UA's program.

If you fly a lot you'll soon have status on both programs and then you are much freer to choose the airline/flight you actually want.

Have found the use of Kris Flyer miles with Qantas points work very well if you want to go in business or first class.
I use Qantas inside Australia and Singapore or Cathay for overseas. Be aware that SQ charges are quite heavy on points redemption flights in economy to the level of making a flight not worthwhile.

Have to ask the question, what are you trying to achieve, is it status or redemptions or good price J seats ($800 to HKG each way)? Depending on your answer, it's more than likely it will be a different frequent flyer program, for instance Agean allows you to attain/retain status easily on *, Avianca Life Miles is good for cheap J options to HKG.

Many thanks for the responses. I'm currently only a SG member of the QF FF program and am sadly confined to Y class travel most of the time, except when I can use FF points to upgrade or buy an Awards seat. I've been trying to get to WP level, which I should manage in the next month or so. My aim is to get to a point where I can travel mostly in J class, especially for long haul flights and I thought sticking with one FF program would help with that. I will now look into joining other programs - Kris Flyer seems the most logical out of PER, but I'll also look at UA.

I am annoyed too that QF no longer fly PER - HKG now... was useful whilst it lasted!

How did you get to SG? Mainly Y to HKG? Or domestic Y etc etc... this will affect your choice of which program to join going forward...
problem with Star arilines to HKG is that it involves a stop in Asia.... but SQ arguably has the best J redemption value PER - HKG (same as PER - SIN)

For OW you obviously have QF + CX via SIN / CX / MH all with their pros and cons. Though MH has cheap J fares ex HKG sometimes which arguably could get you up the QFF ladder quicker but their timings xKUL usually involve an overnight from memory...
