mutual gifting of points

I dont know whether this is kosher or not, but where programs allow for gifting or transfers, can you arrange mutual gifting to get rid of orphaned points?

For example if I had 10,000 SPG points or 50,000 QFF points and gifted them to someone, could they spontaneously decide to gift AMEX points to me?

I guess that would be possible but you would need to stay within the terms and conditions of the program.

Whilst US Airways allows transfers between friends the QFF propram is strictly between family members and account have been closed and QFF points for abusing those terms and conditions.
