Hi All,
My name is Al.
I just joined.
Nice to meet everyone.
I am planning a RTW trip next year, so I hope to use the information on this site, and in time, when I become more experienced and knowledgeable, help others in return.

Have a good day all.
Al

Hi bigal0, welcome to AFF :)

Hopefully we can help you migrate up towards the front of the plane for the RTW and go again soon thereafter (ie help with points accumulation and booking hints)

Welcome to AFF bigal0 - you have come to the right place

Welcome to AFF bigAl0 - may your stay here be long and fruitful in both directions.

(FTR - I think you look nothing like a duck!)

Welcome aboard bigal0. Look forward t hearing about your planning and actual travel.

Make sure you gain the maximum status possible from your trip as well as seeing all the sights.

Thank you to all you kind people out there.

My Trip Plan as its stands ATM:

· depart Bne 1 SEPT 2015 +/- a few days either side
· Prem Econ on Cathay Pac to LHR - short break in HKG
· as well as being tall I also have a bad back hence the Prem Econ seats – if I can get them
· 3 weeks in the UK and Europe
· own way to JFK - or similar (probably on a plane – not a good enough swimmer yet)
· 15 days East Coast US before back to NYC fror a day or two
· Prem Econ with Cathay again to HKG
· a couple of days in HKG and possibly BKK
· back to OZ and reality

Have spoken to a local travel agent and my figures for flights, Accom, car hire, Misso TPT seems to be pretty well on the money – so far.

The other challenge is to get myself onto a FF programme of some sort – probably looking at Qantas, but open to suggestions.

Don’t fly much during the year – maybe a couple of trips to Tassie on Jetstar to see the family – but the airline is flexible... and if I can a trip to Thailand or somewhere in Asia for a week a year.
Also looking at the Woolies Rewards points thing.

ANY thoughts, ideas, most warmly received.

Welcome to AFF bigal0!

Sounds like you have a nice trip planned.

Big fan of CX.... have done many trips in J and PE. The only downside to PE is the arm rest dosn't lift.... either way at 6ft 4 it is worth the money

Welcome to AFF. Plenty of good stuff here.

Don't worry about which Frequent Flyer program to join. Join them all (QF is free if you join Woolworths Everyday Rewards). The decision only comes when you have to decide where to credit your points and Status Credits (SC's).

Welcome bigal0 :) .

Have you considered a repositioning cruise from Europe to the US east coast? They are a bargain and an enjoyable break in a sometimes hectic itinerary.

Welcome to the AFF family bigal0, I am sure you will have a great trip, maybe even bump into some of us in a lounge during your travels.

Remind me to ask you about that when we are in a HH lounge sometime. :)

Welcome. Although one can't help but wonder if maybe you have left your run s bit late where FF programs are concerned.
But don't let that spoil your trip. With good planning and execution you may be well on your way to your second!!
