SnowYeti I really enjoyed your posts and will get my family to have a look.
I was impressed with the photos even up to the bathroom.I must admit I am still smiling from the posts.
Well done giving us your excitement!

Excellent report SnowYeti, and good shots! I can vaguely remember after my first international J wondering how I would cope with Y after that. Despite all the moaning about Qantas, I think that their Int J is up there for being a consistently good product. But I have not not flown them all, so this may have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Wonderful report! I'm flying QF108 in 2 weeks and have put in for an upgrade to business (which I will probably get). I can't wait.

Let's nit pick here - I can tell you what I dont like about QF J ............. those plastic knives you are forced to use ;)

OT: In the F lounges @ MEL and SYD, they wash and reuse those knifes - they get weaker after a few cycles - wait until you have one break on you and scatter salad dressing across one's chest ...

Ahhh dammit - now you've ruined my 'break the knife' surprise! ;)

I just flew BA15 (SIN-SYD) last weekend in J (a.k.a. Club World). All of the implements are plastic, and pretty flimsy looking too (even flimsier than JQ *C implements). Go figure.

... and will they let you carry it on ... :?:

I guess he is oping you can hide it on your body and not get it xrayed and as such you get it in.... but can you imagine getting patted down and having a knife on your body
I can't think that would end well no matter how honest your intentions are. Sure you could throw it in your hand luggage but i would guess the xray would still see it and it would get pulled up.

Certainly something I wouldn't suggest to anyone. My post was in jest.

However, I have been through with a set of polycarbonate cutlery that I forgot was in my backpack. Security took a look after the xray and nothing more was said other than the security person asking where I bought it.

Excellent TR and photographs! QF108 all the way through is a favorite for me on DONE4 trips, simply because it counts as a single sector. And what a sector!

The staff can make a flight for me. A few smiles, an offer to take my photo or hold my bear while I take theirs, an extra chocolate tempting my tubbiness: it all makes me happy.

Qantas staff, especially in the premium cabins, can be superb. It's not just the ability to do their expected functions well, it's the touch of empathy to tell what presses my buttons. Know what I want before I know it.

A couple of the Filipina staff on CX J flights - Hi, Gina and Christina! - have done it for me too.

Food and meal service are so much better at the front end. I've only been in fair dinkum F a couple of times, and while I can't say that it's worth two or three times the economy fare for a meal that's a pleasure to eat instead of a bit of a chore, it's certainly something to look forward to. On that note, I must applaud your food photographs in their detail and variety.

I remember my first time in J. Sipped my champagne with glee, I did. And at the end of the trip, I knew that returning to the back of the bus would be a wrench. I was in love. With the lounges, the legroom, the lunches, the luxury.

Great trip report SnowYeti - you know, I feel like the way you did every INt J flight I do - either paid for with cash or upgraded from Y

You have been bitten by the JBug - it is addictive, a hard habit to break and the only known cure is F

Good luck

Mr!

:D

Nice one SnowYeti, I agree with Skyring, QF107/8 in J is a great ride.

So, will you think twice about taking QF Y/PE again? I know it was hard for me even going to PE looking straight into the J curtain, while my wife (who has not yet sampled QF international J) thought it was the bees knees. ;)

Thanks everyone for your kind comments :) My next long haul is probably scheduled November back to the same place, hmm, I think it will be in Y+, but we will see if I decide to pay for a J...

I love getting staff that recognise you from previous flights, that also makes the difference IMO ..

Better start saving up for J now :)
