NAB Velocity Bonus

I just applied for this offer with NAB and approved with account active:

But at no point did it ask for my velocity details and I did sign up through the promotion page? How does this work? Stressing I am not going to get my bonus points!

But I digress. Once you're approved for the card (and before receipt of it), you can log into NAB Rewards through NAB internet banking and set up auto-transfer for Velocity. There are reports in the NAB forum here and on OzBargain that you get the bonus points regardless of whether you've set up the auto-transfer.

I note that the terms state that the bonus is dependent on 'keep you (sic) card for over 12 months'. If you cancel before the annual fee is due are you at risk of being in breach of this condition?

If you're a new customer (as I am despite holding Citi cards), you get 60K points very quickly and 10K in the second year. I will be paying off the initial transactions ASAP and closing this card the moment the first lot of bonus points drop into my Velocity account.

Thanks. How long did it take to get you physical card?

Approved Monday morning (after a tortuous 3 week process, due to my Commbank card still showing as open, and them not accepting the email from Commbank as proof it was in fact closed). Card received about 11AM today in Melbourne.

Not MELso but had the same experience with the same card last month, took a week after meeting the spend criteria for the points to land.

I am still waiting for the physical card to be posted and activated but have started using Apple Pay already to meet the criteria, but I don't have the option of loggin into NAB rewards to setup the Auto Transfer as yet.

Thanks for all your help. I got to this section but no option anywhere for Velocity/Auto redemption. I called NAB and my details do not show up in their system yet which apprently takes a few days for a new card so they told me to call back. Don't have a good feeling about this!

It took me a couple of days for that same message to clear and replaced with the nab rewards link.

Everything feels strangely 'manual' with NAB - it is probably automated, but every step of the process (even closing) has seemed to take forever and as such, appearing like it won't happen. Sit back and wait, it was hard for me to do so as it felt like it was not happening

There's probably a reason they are building themselves a new unsecured lending platform!

Update: the transactions meeting the minimum spend went through on Wednesday, the bonus points posted on Saturday morning and swept into my Velocity account this morning.

Alas, can't close the account just yet as there's a pre-authorisation charge from last Monday from a UA flight I cancelled and rebooked as fully refundable (in case award space opened up). Hoping it'll clear overnight and I can cancel the card tomorrow. Otherwise, I'll pay it out and move onto the NAB Qantas Platinum card at the weekend.

Similarly I received the 60k points into my velocity this morning (clears NAB rewards 9am Eastern, into Velocity 20mins later). Card cancelled and managed to avoid the annual fee!
