Anyone have any ideas why the QF site does not have the option of booking J ex Nadi from the Fijian site??? The other question I have is what is the distance Nadi-MEL for SC's calculation, some sites suggest is 2402 miles?

Go to www.qantas.co.nz; then on the right hand side there is a box for the city of departure and there is flights ex Nadi.

Buying ex Fiji isn't that much cheaper the main benefit is the option of NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE

Thats still not giving me a bookable J option, not to worried about price, if you book a return ex BNE you only get two flights per trip displayed, if you book one way you do get the option BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN for instance, at $640 for J I am thinking SC's obviously, and would like to take the long way home!

One of the *many* Qantas website bugs. It does allow J to AKL though (as well as F ... not that there are any F flights!).

Similar issues occur when wanting Premium Economy tickets from certain cities that don't have PE directly departing that port etc.

Is it possible that they don't have any more seats on sale utilising that marketed routing?

Pretty remote possibility, though. When are you planning on travelling?

I am travelling a couple of times this year from June through to October, if I do a one way using the Australia site I get get the BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN options, if I go for the return I get a shortened list of outbound flights including no MEL options and plenty of two leg return options.

When I try to book via Nadi there is no option to even ask for J, despite the flights being available as part of a return trip using the Aus site.

How did Bundy Bear and Anat0l book these flights?

Try using Expedia for one way business class NAN-MEL-SYD-BNE. I had a quick look for 30/09/2010 and a number of flights were available for AUD573.
