I'm in a dilemma... I need to redeem an award today and am 1,200 miles short. I could swear in the past this award was available for a lower amount but anyway, this screwed me.

Is there any chance to get miles quickly into the account? I did not find a way to purchase any on the website. I don't have any family member or anyone who I could pool into my account that I could think of. :(

Any advise welcome!

Cheers!

You could buy AMEX MR points at $25 per 1000 and transfer into Velocity, assuming you have an eligible AU AMEX card.

Not anymore. :(

The only option I see so far after looking at the website is: a) CC Transfer from whatever account b) Family Pooling c) Miles Transfer from another account but minimum 5k.

Why don't they just offer to buy the points? I wouldn't even care how much. Welcome to Velocity.

Have you tried calling Velocity anyway? Maybe they'll allow you a tiny overdraft, especially if you're a very loyal Velocity member.

Any particular reason why it needs to be redeemed today? If you had a few days up your sleeve, although hairy your options do increase slightly. If it needs to be today, have you tried talking to Velocity whether they can "hold" the award for you whilst you muster 1200 points quickly?

...
Up until June 30 there was a 15% discount on awards ... may explain the 'increase'.
