Hello everyone

I need 60 status credits to attain silver. I know some people say it's not worth it because I'm Qantas Club but for my own reasons this is my goal. Need to achieve it this weekend as I will be back overseas next week with no chance before my 31 May cut off.

I prefer to fly out of Canberra but can achieve Sydney airport if necessary. Highly probable will be going to Melbourne this weekend. Do I fly business return costing approx $900 (CBR - MEL - CBR) and earn 80 SC's? Or can someone suggest a fun place to visit cheaply. Am on leave so able to go anywhere weekdays.

Hopefully I have posted in the right place. Thank you in advance.

Karens,

Canberra-Melbourne-Perth return will earn 60SC in discount economy and cost $654 this weekend coming up.

Where are you going to be overseas? Often there can be some good runs on OneWorld flights which can also increase the fun factor if you have a day to play whilst you're away.

CBR-MEL in business earns 40 SC (or CBR-MEL)
CBR-MEL in flexi saver (economy) earns 20 SC (or MEL-CBR)
CBR-SYD-MEL in red e-deals earns 2 x 10 SC (discount economy)

Cairns would be fun
CBR-SYD-CNS is 147 miles (10 SC) & 1222 miles (20 SC) in red e-deals (discount economy) $531 [up] & $301 [return] (but be careful not to book Jetstar or Jetstar codeshare)

Back to the Solomons. Work has me flying on Pacific Blue. No chance of catching the Air New Guinea (can't spell their actual name) flight.

Am liking the ideas bounced round. Thank you everyone. Always good to have a 2nd or more perspective.

$622 CBR-SYD-AKL on Saturday, AKL-SYD-CBR on Sunday gives 60SCs. Requires an overnight in AKL though...

PS. If separate bookings (ie. book return with Your Region = "New Zealand") it drops to around $590.

Or sub CBR-MEL-AKL on the outbound for ~$580 (not friendly times though)

PS. Nothing wrong with getting PS when already QP. My year ends May 31 also, and I should cross the line on May 30!

Building on the AKL trip, you could go on LAN from SYD in J for as little as ~$600 return. That's 80SC each way, not including getting to SYD.

Expiring tonight is a sale fare from Canberra to Adelaide of $75. If you go via MEL or SYD for slightly more you can earn more SC. If you have Qantas club too then you can spend a day plane spotting from the various lounges.

Sale ends tonight 80 SCs in one day for $350

CBR-ADL $90 15 SC
ADL-SYD-CBR $85 25 SC
CBR-SYD-ADL $85 25 SC
ADL-CBR $90 15 SC

10SC This Saturday CBR-SYD $109 (QF872 @ 7:30am is $90)
40SC SYD-MEL on JQi in *Class on QF35 $329 (Saturday only, departs 3:15pm)
10SC MEL-CBR $136 (QF822 @7pm)

60SC for $570

Have booked some flights for tomorrow (Thursday). Canberra - Sydney - Adelaide - Melbourne - Canberra. Will get 45 SC's.

Then will earn 20 on the weekend flying Canberra - Melbourne (overnight) - Canberra. Mmm, gotta book that one.

My Mum is jealous I will be flying and just visiting multiple Qantas Pubs tomorrow. I have a pale pink lap top if anyone is at the QP tomorrow......hang on, will be at 4 QP's.......

Thank you for everyone who offered ideas.

Take a camera along and viaually document your MR then post a small TR. :)

At least I am not the only person who thinks visiting a few Qantas lounges on a day trip isn't a completely stupid idea.

Is $300 to visit the Qantas First lounge + Brisbane + Melbourne just a bit too expensive.

We look forward to a trip report.

Bundy Bear, i think the MEL and SYD Flounges are worth a bit to visit, after all you can atleast get some pretty good food and wine there :) Such a shame there is now so few chances to do so domestically.

Karen, enjoy and have fun :)
