I am heading to Thailand and would like the extra baggage and lounge access for my trip. I am Silver at the moment and need 250 points in total I can only use the lounge on way back i think as i am flying thai airways from melb but will have about 3hrs wait in melb to fly back to mildura.

I have 3 trip to Olympic Dam from Mildura economy class which works out to 180points and was wondering if i bump up to business using points for the flights between MEL-ADL will this get me the extra 70 points?

OLP-ADL-MEL-MQL

thanks

upgrades using points won't earn you the extra SCs as you'll only earn them in the class you were originally booked. You'll need to do a status run somewhere.

oh ok thanks for the advice. Looks like a status run the end of may then. 70 points from mildura any ideas? i should have around 64,000 points

had a bit of a play and mildura to melb then to syd with the melb-syd been business would get me the points easy and with some points to spare, am i working this out right?

I looked up JASA and they're ridiculously expensive out of Mildura, and you would be in Y to MEL anyway. A JASA MEL-SYD or MEL-ADL would set you back about 48000 points return, but you could lower that by using cash for part of it. A flexi saver to SYD from MQL would cost you about $950 if you're willing to spend that much

yer i reckon i might just pay for extra bag and use my free visit card. I should be able to get another one from someone so i can get the better half in. Thanks for your help elbarto
