I've been offered a RTW first class ticket (AONE5?) by my company as bonus as well as three weeks holiday. I have to travel before the end of this year, and would depart and return to/from Sydney.

I've searched the forums looking for an AONE5 itinerary that results in the maximum SCs but I haven't found anything.

I'm hoping that someone has worked out something similar already and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks for your help with this.

Not a bad bonus! I would be more looking at where you want to go first, then optimising it.
Should be relatively easy to get 2500 + SCs. Main issue will be finding First Class Routes.

This route (based on an optimised DONE4 I am doing gets 2560 SCs exactly as an AONE4 with J only to/from DEL). Switching out some of the NA/Asian legs for SA legs should add a bit.

The key here is to ensure you can get as many flights that actually have F class on the plane, and then choose the best of those. also need to maximise A class travel in the US, and this off-sets against available sectors (with a max of 16 permitted). Where there is no F, you'll be seated in J.

Here's a sample intinerary, but I'm sure that some people will do better. This gets you 1,970 SCs.

SYD - SIN (QF) - A - 180 SC
SIN - HKG (CX) - D - 80 SC
HKG - JFK (CX) - A - 270 SC
LGA - ORD (AA) - A - 90 SC
ORD - LGA (AA) - A - 90 SC
JFK - LAX (AA) - A - 150 SC
LAX - DFW (AA) - A - 120 SC
DFW - MIA (AA) - A - 90 SC
MIA - SCL (LA) - D - 120 SC
SCL - MAD (IB) - D - 160
MAD - TLV (IB) - D - 80 SC
TLV - LHR (BA) - A - 120 SC
LHR - SIN (BA) - A - 240 SC
SIN - SYD (QF) - A - 180 SC

As I thought, I should have just waited for the experts to speak up !!

Unless you need the SCs for lifetime status I would just enjoy the AONE5. Once you get past 2100 SCs and unless you are heading towards 5000+ the bit in the middle is a bit pointless.

I would be maximising enjoyment and miles - not SCs

I'm with simongr here. I'd be simply making the most of true F sectors and the frills that go with it, rather than worrying too much about status credits.

For example, consider the following simple routing, that gives a good idea of what Oneworld F travel has to offer:

SYD-QF-LHR-BA-LAX-AA-JFK-CX-HKG-CX-SIN-QF-SYD

You get to try:
1. SYD - LHR on the A380, including the tasting menu on the SYD-SIN segment, and a very decent bed on the SIN-LHR segment.
2. LHR - LAX you get to sample the Concorde Room in T5. BA first is a bit dated, but generally have some very nice French wines to sample.
3. LAX-JFK will be on the 3-class 763's. Not up there with AA's international Flagship suites, but worth a look
4. JFK-HKG is a "fabled" route. 16 hours in CX's new F suite and peerless service - can't beat that
5. Finish it off with a nice trip home on the A380.

And ~ 1290 SC's to boot.

Of course, if the AONE5 can be split over two QFF Membership "years" one may be able to earn WP in one "year" and get a really good head start into the next. ;)

If you replace LAX-JFK with LAX-MIA-JFK you may be able to snag a 777 for the LAX-MIA flight, which is a much nicer F experience than AA's 767.

Now that is a good point. Chuck in a positioning flight as well and you can have two holidays for the price of one.

What a fantastic company you work for.

I didn't ask a question a while back in the general forum about the possibility of booking F Class only flights for all 16 flights on a AONE4, that will give you an idea of how to maximise the experience but you know, just enjoy the holiday and don't go too crazy with the SC's esp because you only have 3 weeks to use it all in...

I'd agree, if SC is not important as mentioned above, focus on the quality of the flight and plane type. QF 388 to LHR, CX 744 to JFK, QF 388 back home from SIN ... that would be ideal. After these kind of flights, you couldn't go back to flying in any other cabin ;)

I struggle with long haul economy now... thanks to all my business trips in the J Cabin I have to at least book PE for my personal long haul flights... Hate to know what it would be like after you've used the suites...

gumpy,

You have been reading my mind with this as those are my thoughts exactly.
