Just in case OP's post seems a little robotic, it's not. It is however a genuine enquiry based on a proposal for sticky that's being designed to help with these exact kind of questions.

Once you've had a chance to help the OP with their questions, your feedback on the format in the sticky proposal thread would be greatly appreciated.

With 320 SC needed, and no idea of how many flights booked between now and the end of your qualifying year, my best suggestion would be the usual NAN J run which starts ex-BNE.

The NAN run is the easiest to pull off, specially as the flights qualify under the double SC promo for 2011. You'd also pick up some extra points and SCs from the necessary positioning flights.

As to if you'd want to push for SG from PS, I'd suggest looking closer at your circumstances before doing so. The additional status bonus points you earn from being a SG might help you earn what you need a little for your future international YASA ticket, but how far off is the planned YASA and could you earn the points you need in time with your current travel plans and PS status?

Future planned trips before 31st July Have been added to the Original Post.

A cheapie to NAN and then taking the NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE return for around ~$500 seems to be your best bet, and you’ll spill over just a little.

Cheapie = JASA ? or ( y- : if I do a MEL-SYD-NAN-SYD-MEL I get 60 SC + Double SC = 120SC )

Planned Trips Before 31st July 2011 :- MEL-SIN-BOM-BNE-MEL in Y- with Double SC = 220 SC - ?

Will my Double SC's Credited before 31st July. (Travel Dates are 25th June to 18th July)

How long does it take in real life for Double SC to reflect in your account ?

my return from BOM is on the 18th July ?

But the SC's (Double SC Promo) posted after the 31st July , won't be counted for my - Upgrade to gold i.e on the 31st July ?? Right ??
Your SCs will post for the period in which you fly. ie if you fly in July they will count for July even if they do not post until Aug or Sept.

No. As mentioned the SC count from when they are earned, the date you fly. If SC post to your account later an adjustment is made.

  1. Pick the lowest possible fare to NAN, even if it doesn't earn.
  2. Book the return from NAN in J via the method listed in many a thread on this website when searching, travelling NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE.
  3. The route above earns 180SC, when doubled gives 360SC.

Current points balance :- 68,000 ( trying to save up for a international YASA ).

Use the money from the proposed NAN status run for your international YASA trip, YASAs are poor value IMHO, in the meantime use the points to do the HBA-SYD-CBR run, or ADL-TSV JASAs!
