I used to travel every week and missed out on platinum by 1 flight in 2007! DOH!

My gold expired, and I had left over credit from QC club so I'm now QC Silver ..

I've read past threads from 2007 about renewing at corporate rate, but I don't know the scheme number for the one I'm on now. Is renewing the best option through AFF?

:)

I recently had to go through this process. The best option is to find out if you current employer has a QC corporate scheme and compare the renewal rate with AFF. (which I understand is $75 less than the normal renewal rate)

You can also check your current renewal rate by logging in to the QF website and starting the renewal process. Thsi shows the rates and asks you to enter the scheme number. You could also contact you current scheme and ask them the number.

If you still have some old renewal forms you might find the scheme number on there.

No, current employer doesn't have corporate scheme.

Can anyone tell me how much the AFF rates are for 1 and 2 year renewal? (To confirm it)

I have been trying to PM one of the mods, but I don't think it got through

I'd be interested too. I had Gold for years and when that lapsed my employer paid for my QC membership through their corporate scheme. I left that company (after more than a decade of dedicated and humble service:p) in September and my membership is still valid but only until the end of the month I just realised.
Assume I can renew at this corporate rate throughthe online form - must try that. Failing that I'd join the AFF scheme providing they'd have me!

Well they took me Warks, so they'll have anyone!:p

You and SnowYeti could take a look at the QC thread in this part of AFF for current renewal rates etc. You need to be a Gold member of the site (there is a list of benefits in the same area as this link) for $50 a year (ads are eliminated as well). It's a moderate, rather than massive, saving over joining/renewing as Joe Public (and of course, if renewing, there is no joining fee). :)

PS. Unsure exactly what I paid about a year ago for 2 yrs renewal (maybe $570?), but rates may well have changed since then.

You need to know the existing scheme number to renew online or on the phone. You can't do it without it, I tried LOL. So I'll be joining via AFF again ... you save $80 from the individual renewal. With $50 AFF membership, you're saving $30 but you get a good deal for a good site :)

Actually I just trrawled through all 16 pages of the original thread that got the AFF scheme going and discovered a scheme whereby I can join another group. On the first page or two was a reference to ex-CSIRO employees having a scheme. Funnily enough, although it's a loooong time since I worked for them I joined their alumni network some months back and never thought of it again. I just logged into the website and found that they offer QFF membrship for one year for $215 and two years for $360 which sounds good. As I'm still a member for next week or so I guess I don't have to pay the $200 joining fee?

Will get back to you shortly...

The ex-CSIRO site had a ready made form to fill out (or fill in). Just printed it off and filled in the details and faxed it back. About the first use my fax has had in a month or two!

Sadly I won't be joining youse guys!
"I wouldn't want to join a club that would have me as a member!" to paraphrase Karl Marx. Or was it Harpo?

Trying to chase up if my employer has a QP corp programme, or else will have to get the money together and join via AFF.

Don't know how big your work is, but make sure you asked more than once. I asked twice and they said no. Then I found out they had one for many years! lol ... some people have no idea :)

Working for a State Govt organisation, so hoping like hell those that deal with the travel related side of things know what they are doing.

I also work for a state government and everyone internally told me there is no corporate scheme. I finally asked HR and they chased it up and, of course, there is a whole of government scheme. In this case, the government TA knows all about the details. So that might be a starting point for you.

Thanks for the tip, contacted the travel depart of my employer plus my union as well to see if they have anything.

My new membership card showed up in the mail yesterday. So it cost me a mere $215 via the CSIRO Alumni. Who'd have thought working for that august group all those years ago for what was a relatively short time would pay off so far down the track?:p

I did think of paying for two years at the same time ($360) but being in business for myself I'd rather stretch my expenses over the years.

Thanks to this website for reminding me that my membership was running out. I hadn't realised it finished at the end of March so I got in just in time to avoid paying the joining fee again.
