Background: Okay, so I'm needing to do a run in the next few weeks in order to retain my Gold FF status. I need 50 SCs, I'm in Adelaide, and the permutations are almost endless. Obviously, if I can get the cheapest fares that would be great. I've also got a $300 Qantas gift voucher I can use. I need to be going to Melbourne anyway in the next week and was trying to tie in flights for this.

I guess the question is: Is there any piece of software out there that can incorporate all the permutations when you're looking for status runs? I've got Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brissy all in the equation as destination airports, with discount economy and economy as my class options. Or does one just have to spend hours trawling through dozens and dozens of the main possibilities?

A JASA one-way from Adelaide to Melbourne will get you 40 SCs, you could then use your gift voucher for the return journey in Y for the remaining 10.

This is true. I forgot to say that the trip to Melbourne has to be one-way as I'm picking up a car (imported from US) and driving it back to Adelaide. So I'm starting in Adelaide, but terminating in Melbourne.

Just found an ADL-MEL-CBR Econ for $315 with a CBR-MEL discount economy for $129 - $439 all up. This is the best I've come across so far and gets me 50 SCs on the money.

For some reason I hadn't even thought of using my points. I think I have an aversion to using them for domestic fares given how cheap the domestics are anyway. Actually, a Points + Pay and my voucher might work out to be a good option. ??

ADL-SYD-CBR is the same price but you get the 50 in one hit!

If you are tight on time, you can also do ADL-SYD-MEL on Econ (flexi saver). Costs just a shave under $500, taking only 4.5 hours.
