Hey. Does anyone use a netcomm N150 portable wireless hotspot? I bought one as it is supposed to be the bees knees with the Sierra Wireless 4G telstra card - I want the shared access across MBA, iPad and iPhone while away from home.

The problem is, if I connect the 4G card directly into the USB slot on the MBA, I connect fast and stable however, when connecting on the N150, the MBA connects to the N150 hotspot ok, but the 4G card is sloooooow....

I have opened advanced wireless settings at the given IP address and tried changing the channel from AUTO to 1, 2, 3 and 4 (it goes up to 12) but to no avail.

Any techy people have any ideas?

Could be the WiFi is interfering with the LTE due to the proximity of the antennas inducing harmonics into the front end of the other receiver, this can be ruled out easily by plugging an USB extension cable into the hotspot and relocating the LTE modem. If it is an issue then it would be a big design flaw!

Edit - Seems to be a few reports on the issue http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1479379

Interesting as the previous model worked fairly well with Next G. I had issues on the iPad though with pages sometimes loading slowly

Personally I just received the Sierra Wireless Mifi device and that is awesome.

Problem with the Mifi devices is that they only do 2G/3G/4G network sharing, whereas the Netcomm will share Ethernet connections as well - which is why I use one. Primarily, I use it as a hotspot in my hotel room when travelling, but I can also use it when travelling for wireless connectivity in the US (Sprint USB stick), England (O2 USB stick) and Australia (Telstra HSDPA Sierra USB Stick - so the previous version to the one that munitalP is using. )

I don't have any great suggestions re the problem at hand - my combination is the older versions of both the Netcomm router and the Telstra NextG model, but when I am in a 3G location, I find the speed adequate and pretty much the same as ig I plug the modem directly into my Thinkpad (running Ubuntu)....

Point, I hadn't thought about that... I have the previous model as well but don't tend to use it now as LTE is faster than the hotel WiFi.

Can you call up speedtest to run and see what the ping time is and the results?
