Wow - eSIM provider Airalo has launched a new loyalty program with Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers. 😂

You get cashback rewards, which are higher if you have a higher tier level.

I've been using Airalo a lot lately - I find it a very convenient and reliable service when travelling overseas - so I wonder how long it will take me to get to Platinum...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Give it a month and some nerd somewhere will have crunched the numbers and worked out that if you use take out five overlapping connections for one day each in USA/Lebanon/Peru/<insert country here> for 20c each you can get €10 off a Europe sim…

Or buy 1000 cans of tuna…

It's a simple cashback program - I don't think there's much room for gaming :)

I like using simcorner for data. Very good service. Might be a bit dearer than other providers but they offer both physical and e-sim options. If you ever have a problem when you land they answer pretty quickly via email.
I like the fact that they have physical sims so I use my NZ number for the e-sim and the simcorner card for extra data. You need a dual sim phone to do this.

I also set up a skype number whilst I was away and forwarded my calls (via settings on my iphone 13 pro) to the skype number. If someone rang it didn't activate the daily NZ roaming charge, it just rang through to my skype number.

I have US$0.33 status credits now!

Although, I am finding that I’m chewing through Airolo data much faster than the monthly Optus inclusion. Like twice as fast! Weird.

OT: Another satisfied Simcorner member here.
Data only tho but still have lots of data left, from 3gb $29.
500mb used.
Only 1.25 days since I got to NZ, and roaming lots.OT

That’s actually actually relatively expensive.

2GB in Spain was A$10 with Airalo. However(!) I feel like I was ripped off on data usage. I reset my iPhone usage stats at the start of my Optus plan month (4GB roaming per month - good while it lasted) but Optus showed I’d used 2GB and my Airalo 2GB evaporated in days, iPhone said I’d only used 2.5GB total. It’s usually pretty close +/- 100 MB.

Not happy Jan!

Off T: Use Simcorner esim data only.
Very satisfied.
Will use them again.
Bit pricier than Airalo.
Nearly only smidgen under 1gb for 1.75 days of a lot of roaming in NZ.
NO calls tho.
On T.
