:) Hi there!

Im Mandy and Im new to this site, but very much enjoying reading the posts.

Im quite inexperienced when it comes to the acronyms used, etc although I am picking them up slowly, but please still be patient with me! :) If someone could explain the basics, like OP (I think that means pax) etc that would be great :D

I want to fly to the UK next year so I can do a year or two working over there. I have a QFF card with 48,000 points on it, from a lot of hotel stays, a previous return UK trip, ANZ QFF card joining up bonus points, and a bit of shopping!

I guess I want to find out the best ways for me to accumulate the 15,000 or so points I need for a one-way ticket? I won't be doing many more hotel stays between now and then, and no flights really other than Jetstar where I cannot accumulate points on the tix I buy...

Also, Im kind of locked into Qantas with my current accumulation, but am wondering if others have a much better experience accumulating points and flying through Virgin or others? Also a bit worried about Qantas and safety at the moment...:confused:

Thanks very much, sorry Im very green, but I love travelling and would like to find more about this world! Im in Sydney if it makes a difference re points collection.

Cheers

Mandy

In terms of the rare :lol: use of abbreviations, they can be decoded here:

If you are after a quick 15000 points (and they need to be quick given April is a popular travel month so frequent flyer awards will be rare), possibly the best way is to apply for the new woolworths everyday credit card for Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Although they may not arrive quickly enough - in the T&C's it says;

Allow up to 8 weeks after the qualifying purchase is made for the points to appear on your credit card statement, at which time your credit card account must be current and not in arrears.
