New award waitlist process > 21 days only

SQ have announced their new waitlist process for award redemptions. They of course used the "e" word:

Enhancements to KrisFlyer redemption waitlist process

Changes to confirmation and cancellation of waitlist redemption bookings

In addition, waitlisting for redemption flights will be available up to 3 weeks before departure, and you will be informed of the outcome of your waitlist redemptions at least 14 days before flight departure*.

All successful waitlist redemptions will be confirmed and unsuccessful ones cancelled two weeks prior to the flight. Please note that the cancellation will apply to all waitlist redemptions excluding redemption upgrades, which will continue to be available up to the point of departure.

Very disappointed that waitlisting will no longer be allowed <3 weeks before departure. I have used this feature for many redemptions over the past 10 years. Not happy. I guess for most it will be positive outcome, but for those of who have used the utility of this last minute ability to waitlist (a big benefit of having PPS or higher status, where waitlist clearance, particularly in economy, is excellent), it's quite a devaluation.

I'd imagine some last minute "confirm-ers" will particularly not like this.
