New change to JQ Plus Bundle fares

The Jetstar Plus Bundle states: "Change Fees do not apply for permitted changes to a Starter Fare with Plus Bundle."

Although change fees do not apply, if you want to change to another flight at the same price, you still have to purchase another Plus Bundle:
"Subject to payment of Fare Difference applicable at time of change, Starter Fares with Plus Bundles can be changed to an available Starter Fare with Plus Bundle, Starter Fare with Max Bundle, Business Fare or Business Fare with Max Bundle. Starter Fares with Plus Bundle cannot be changed to a Starter fare."

An example is a $59 flight with $19 Plus Bundle paid changing to another $59 flight on the same day. This change costs $19 as you have to purchase another Plus Bundle.

This is a new change as I have previously changed flights without purchasing an extra Plus Bundle.

It's really dodgy, if you've purchased a plus bundle why do you need to purchase it again? They've unbundled stuff and are selling it separately. SO if I purchase the bundle once, then I should get those benefits regardless of the flight. This is really, really dodgy.

Bundles/unbundles/bait & switch/"gottcha" fees/ epic T&C's that rival war and peace, and invisible fare classes. Its all marketing speak for the same thing - revenue. Its the airlines response to the commodification of airfares - they don't want the customer to able to compare apples with apples. In fact they want to make it so complex, that most people can't be bothered to shop on price as it is so time intensive. Ever wondered why your mobile phone contract is so big and complex? Same reason.

Fortunately most of the hard core people on here are awake to it, and they will find ways around them.

The OP is indicating that if you have a plus fare and change, you outright forfeit the original plus cost and have to pay in full whatever the plus cost is on the new flight.

What they are saying is you have to pay the plus bundle fee again. So in the example given of a $59 fare + $19 plus bundle. Change that to another $59 fare and you have to pay another $19 for the plus bundle. The original plus bundle is gone.

Me neither. Mores the shame because it really needs someone to drag this cough through court or something. Trouble is the types of people that get hit with this have no voice.

Well I may find myself caught up in this but I shouldn't. Purchased JQ35/36 fares a while back, but those flights were canned and JQ thoughtfully put me onto solely domestic JQ flights around the same time. I had a plus bundle for each flight. Now these changes were initiated by JQ, not me. I can't be bothered going anywhere near the booking at the moment, but will be somewhat peed off if there is any adverse effect on me as a result.

Regardless of impact on me or otherwise, it does sound rather shabby.

On 3K two weeks ago I was able to do changes without having to buy anything more.

I find it even more amazing that people who have paid for plus bundles which allow a (single) flight change are charged additional collection on the entire itinerary even if the only sector they want to change is still offering the same fare.

I've seen several instances of this kind of complaint on the JQ FB page.

It does seem unfair that the whole itinerary gets repriced, not just the sector that is changing. It may just be the limitations of the software used by JQ however a forward and return segment is priced separately (eg SYD/HNL/SYD) and a round trip itinerary is simply two separate fare components added together which are saleable on a one way basis.

I think the only way to avoid this happening is to book a forward and return sector in a separate pnr in the event of any changes to keep the change process as hassle free as possible.

Seems like the JQ plus bundles have now gone up in price, but now includes a $5 in-flight meal voucher.
