when you apply for a new card and the company rings you and asks you to call back to confirm some details
is than an obvious sign that the card wont be approved?
otherwise they will just send the card out to you
just like my 2 other cards when i applied years back without asking me to ring.
or do they ring all applcants now?

It's not an obvious sign that it won't be approved. It just means that they have had trouble verifying something.

I got the call once when my HR department wouldn't give personal information without my approval. It could be as simple as that.

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago when applying for a Citibank Plat card.I had several calls from CB and had to call our pay branch to authorise them to give CB my details. I'm now flattening CB Plat plastic:D
