New DoubleTree for Melbourne

I'll take it. It is a 5 minute walk from relatives down there. Tram or train into the city is relatively simple.

It's not actually in Melbourne. It's in the outer suburbs. Zone 2 on the train network.

Yes there is a need for suburban hotels and I suggest that the DT will fit in well in Box Hill especially if it has an Asian focus.

However, any visitor to Melbourne who thinks this is close to the CBD will be in for a very rude shock, especially if they take a taxi there from the airport.

Box hill - hope they provide personal security guards for guests ;)

Box Hill is hardly outer these days. More like inner half.

Its good to see a new build Double tree being built. It is a shame that there will be no other Hilton hotel here in Melbourne for a while as not sure where in the city they can build one mybe docklands or unless they takeover a hotel that has the lease running out.

I did notice that the Ritz Carlton being built recently had all branding removed and replaced with generic "West Side Apartments" or similar.

Excellent news. My folks live in Boxhill so it will be very handy when I take the kids to visit. With the regular express train rides to the city, you're there in 20 minutes. I wonder what honors category it will be in.

Categories are being discontinued, so it probably doesn't matter!
