Just joined this community after lurking for a while. Recent SG with VA. Still young and learning. Switched from Qantas last year.

Welcome!

So, what prompted your switch from Qantas to Virgin?

Welcome aboard..... how do you find the switch from QF to Virgin?

Thanks for the welcome.

I do most of my flying to Brisbane and back so the premium entry is a solid perk. Another major reason is the relationship with SQ. However, the main reason was family pooling.

Qantas always treated me very well and I cannot fault their service but the FF program is just not targeted at me. I don't fly business enough (at full price) to really sit safely in SG. I just didn't want to have to do status runs. By switching to VA I went from scraping into SG with Qantas to just missing WP in the first year. Receiving status credits from my partner on holiday flights really packs a punch. I feel much more secure sitting between Gold and Platinum than I did booking extra connections with Qantas to keep it with them.

When I switched I took out a really affordable VP at a discount through work and went from there.

Fair enough then! I'm a QF fan myself, but as you say the Velocity frequent flyer program does have some solid advantages. If it works for you, then go for it.

May I ask what you mean by "affordable VP"?
