Greetings,

After lurking on this forum for a while I thought it was time to jump in.

I’m basically a loyal Qantas flyer despite a couple of bad experiences last year.

October last year saw me happily camped in an exit row seat on the runway at LAX around midnight, about to take off when AJ shut down the airline. I couldn’t believe they would turn around a fully laden A380 already on the runway and disgorge hundreds of travellers into the departure lounge in the early hours of the morning.
I got my revenge by venting about AJ on national TV after a Sunrise crew interviewed me in the airport.

In December, just about to land in SIN when an FA dropped a full sick bag in the aisle nearby with dramatic effect. Unfortunately we had the same seats for the ongoing flight to LHR and despite the cleaning it was not a pleasant journey.

Anyway now that I have been inducted into the secret world of status runs and JASA’s my goal is to never fly long haul economy again.

When the CEO shows contempt for customers what message does that send to the QF staff?

First point - perhaps they had a reason to stop the flight, or do you think that ¨AJ¨ decided on a whim to stuff people around and lose the airline some money??? Please explain.

RE the sick bag, shame on a hostie for having an accident. Maybe everyone can have a mistake once in their life?

As for the secret world of status runs, etc, get into it and enjoy! :)

Maybe you missed it. But pretty much AJ did decide on a whim* to shut down the whole airline and he lost $150million or so in the process.

* If we are to believe his statement that he didnt preplan the shutdown.

you're a very kind, forgiving soul sticking with QF after they did that you in LAX! once you reach gold, i would recommend you make sure to maximise the OneWorld benefits by using other partner's lounges as much possible and crediting flights to other programs once you requalify - dont feel you need to be 'too' loyal to QF :)

Thank you all for your welcome and your comments. I might be a sucker but I would like to see Qantas prosper and most of the Qantas staff I have dealt with have been helpful and friendly. The only exception being the ground staff at Singapore who tried to ignore me after the "sick bag" incident.

I have never made it past Silver status before but thanks to the forum I will be going for Gold this year.

The forum should come with a warning about possible addiction!
