Hey all, new member here and just have a few questions to ask

I am travelling Melb-LAX on Qf 93 on Saturday 18th December in N class economy. So firstly I have looked around and seems to be that N class is unable to get upgraded.. Is this true/is there anyway of attemping to upgrade such as requesting over the phone?

Also, as I am tall at 6ft 5 I really would love some extra leg room.. as a bronze member i think I can only request 7 days before for a bulkhead seat.. is that true? and would my chances of getting one be minimal,

Moreover, i am fairly sure that I will be travelling on the Airbus A380 and have found that seat 71D does not have seat in front so would be great.. is it possible to request a specific seat on internet if bronze member.. or possible of requesting over phone?

Lastly, my mother is a silver or gold member so would she have the ability of requesting upgrade/bulkead seat for me as i think those above bronze can book bulkhead far before bronze members

Thanks a lot,
Julian

First, welcome to AFF.

I can answer a few questions for you, others will follow up with the rest I am sure...

Simple answer is, NO. If you are on a fare class too low for upgrade, there is not a thing that you can do about it except spend a few more $$ and purchase a higher class fare. I cannot confirm N is upgradable though sorry.

lso, as I am tall at 6ft 5 I really would love some extra leg room.. as a bronze member i think I can only request 7 days before for a bulkhead seat.. is that true? and would my chances of getting one be minimal,

In most cases, bulkhead seats have less legroom than a normal seat. I think you mean exit rows.

Lastly, my mother is a silver or gold member so would she have the ability of requesting upgrade/bulkead seat for me as i think those above bronze can book bulkhead far before bronze members

Is she travelling with you? If she isn't, she cant do a thing. If she is, she could use on line seat selection to choose both her seat and yours as long as you were ticketed together.

It's a 747-400 at this stage.

There's a seat map online here

Your best bet may be to try for an exit row seat 7 days before departure. Both aisle exit row seats have however been taken already, but there is still a window and centre.

Try plugging your booking reference in to http://www.checkmytrip.com and see if it shows you as having been assigned a seat already. I believe they assign bronze members seats at booking until a certain percentage of the cabin has been sold (at least that was the case before IIRC).

Once logged in to checkmytrip you'll see a link like this under your flight details:

Expand it and you might see a seat number assigned, eg:

You can see that I have 4F on those flights (taken from one of my upcoming bookings) but haven't yet selected a seat for the domestic sectors.

If you have been assigned a seat you can then compare it against the seat map I linked to above.

Yer it does say it's on a 747 but looking on other threads it seems that qf93 Melb-LAX has in fact been an A380 even though stating 747 on certain pages. So spose will have to wait and see or call up and find out.

QF93/94 is A380 on selected days only (3 x weekly, the other 4 flights are ops by 744)
