With my flight from CGK to SYD just completed, I've ticked off another milestone by clocking up 1 million kilometres in the air in the last 5 years.

To put it into perspective, thats 622k miles and 25 times the earths circumference..

Next targets are 1 million miles and lifetime QF SG.

And to add, with the double SC promotion, I just clocked over Lifetime PS as well.....

Nice. I'm a little way off that! According to my flight spreadsheet (which is missing several dozen flights, mostly domestic though SYD-PER) I'm at 529,376 Miles since 2000. Even at 550,000 that's still a chunk of. Onwards towards the next target:)

Congratulations :) nice BIS work :)

Good work - I haven't updated my spreadsheet in a while - might do that once I get back from HK in a couple of weeks. I think I would be pretty close - and might have to add another column to the spreadsheet... currently all measures are in miles.

All the best for the million Miles

It's amazing how it stacks up - I'm sitting on just over 720,000 miles & after next week will be less than 800sc from achieving LTG.

I'm supposedly sitting on 384,000 miles, but many flights from my youth haven't been recorded. As seen in my signature.

Nice one Fantic125! There's always another goal to achieve, no matter how high you set the bar.

We're quite close statistically. I'm at 790,000 odd miles according to FlightMemory - Statistic from our user 'vec', in 5 and a half years, accumulating 13,100 SC's. I'm sure we've crossed paths somewhere in that lot! :)

Hi all, thanks for the positive feedback!

@munitalP, I use www.travelmath.com for point to point calcs where I haven't previously travelled, but I also have an excel spreadsheet where I record my flights and mileage (usually based on the flight miles credited by the FF program, as sometimes there's a slight difference between travelmath and the FF program.).

And also www.my.flightmemory.com (see sig) to record as well.

I have every QF flight since 2004 logged in an excel spread sheet but no mileage. I wonder if I could find an easy way for the mileage to be added...

It would depend on how you have your information laid out in the spreadsheet. If you had a lot a 'standard' flights e.g. SYD to HKG, or MEL to SYD, then you could easily create a table of your most common flights and use the VLOOKUP function to populate a distance column, then enter the 'non-standard' distances manually?

I took up the free "My Flight Memory" membership and undertook the painful task of entering in each flight.....takes for ever however, the stats it produces are pretty cool.

I use a reasonably complex spreadsheet, its pretty good for spotting trends and other related analysis.

For example, out of the 249,000 miles done since 2010, my average number of flights each year has halved (admittedly from a crazy peak) but the distance has remained the same, go figure :)
Also the ratio of Y+, J and F flights vs Economy has also increased, surely that's got to be a good sign? ;)

Another good stat that I like to analyse is the spend on each carrier and the associated value/product I'm receiving for that spend.

I also have my flight memory. Stopped entering flights in April last year. There are one or two "open source" versions available that will import spreadsheets for free. Can't remember exact names, flight diary:?:, but check some signatures.

Import it into OpenFlights (http://ww.openflights.org) and it will calculate all the mileage for you (based on Great Circle distances) - might need to knock the data into shape a bit first.

I use OpenFlights to track my flying - it's free and works well. Even if you don't want to switch from a spreadsheet to OpeFlights permanently you can do the import, have OpenFlights figure out the mileage and then export the data back into a spreadsheet again.

I have mucked about with my spreadsheet.

These stats are Qantas/Jetstar flights only. I also have a truck load of NZ, VA / DJ flights, SAS, Delta and United but it is too difficult to get the correct information. I also decided to use a start point of 2005 (I was platinum) and a finish point of NOV2011 as this is my FF year start. 2012 stats and pre Nov 2004 are not included.

Great thread idea!
