Aus Aviation (26 Sept 2024)--> New owners take majority stake in Queensland Airports Limited

Queensland Airports Limited’s (QAL) majority shareholders, the Macquarie Asset Management-run The Infrastructure Fund, Australian Retirement Trust, and State Super, have sold their stake to a new consortium.

The 74.25 per cent interest is set to be acquired by a consortium comprising KKR and the Skip Essential Infrastructure Fund for an undisclosed amount, with the consortium reported to have defeated AustralianSuper, among others, in the bidding war.

“We are now excited to embark on a new chapter with the Skip Essential Infrastructure Fund and KKR and to work with them to grow our airports in the years ahead.” Michael Weaver, head of global real assets at ART, described the sale as a “pleasing” outcome for Australia’s second largest super fund. “As an institutional investor, we’re always looking for opportunities to deliver the best possible outcomes for our members, and the timing of this sale alongside other investors supports that goal.
Now Skip Essential Infrastructure Fund is an interesting name. So skip (miss) any-all infrastructure?
KKR Well known vulture capital firm
Such "owners" tend to look for big (tax effective) gains in a few years time. Not long term investors

Queensland Airports Limited is an Australian Airport consortium in charge of two separate Airport consortia in the state of Queensland, Australia. Under the two consortia, it is in charge of four airports; Gold Coast, Longreach, Mount Isa and Townsville.
