I've just contacted the Qantas Club in Perth to confirm I can use my Qantas lounge single entry invitation at the new transit lounge in Perth for passengers flying on the direct Perth to London flight QF9.
The answer was 'no'. The reason given was their system at the new lounge isn't accepting the new electronic passes. So they are not allowing the paper passes either.
Can they do this ?
Has anyone had this experience ?

Well...

If this is the lounge pass you receive as a Silver frequent flyer then it is only valid for Qantas Clubs and Qantas International Business Lounges. Qantas has branded the new Perth T3 lounge as an "International Transit Lounge" - neither a Qantas Club nor an International Business Lounge.

It's kind of scummy if it is enforced like that, but technically it's correct. I'm sure in the terms and conditions it says that Qantas reserves the right to refuse access.

How clever so who can actually use this "transit' lounge:

Fully Paid up Qantas club members?
Platinums?
Golds?
Business Class Passengers?

I always laugh when I think of the Qatar airways setup in Doha. If you are flying business class you get a lovely lounge with everything.

If you are in economy and have Oneworld status - Emerald or Saphhire you get what I call a "tea/coffee" lounge which is very basic!

To use the pass you specify a flight then pick the available lounges. What options are there as the available lounge for the pass?

The Domestic Business class is also branded as the "International Business Lounge" so you might be able to use it there but otherwise you're a bit out of luck.

It is a paper pass I'd plan to use before this flight. However I've got an electronic one as well. I'll log in and see what lounges come up.
Qantas did suggest on the phone to use the normal QF lounge in the domestic airport with the pass. But to allow plenty of time to get from there to the gate (through customs) for QF9.

All of those, plus the Oneworld equivalents, provided they are flying on QF9 or QF10 (with the exception of passengers flying QF10 PER-MEL as a domestic flight).

It’s not like excluding the Silver passes is without precedent - they aren’t valid at LAX either.

But LAX is not a Qantas Lounge - it's a OW Lounge operated by Qantas ... so this is a sort of precedent ...

It's a bank issued pass if that makes any difference.

I am not sure that would make a difference.

The T&C's are quite clear in that they can only be used at a QP domestically or QF J-Lounge internationally. This lounge is neither a QP or International J-Lounge

I would be pretty annoyed if I was a QC member and could not use this new lounge prior to QF 9!

We aren’t talking QP member access here, we are talking about the complimentary invites.

So where does one go if not in transit? Do they have two airside lounges?

Flying QF9/QF10 for the MEL-PER/PER-MEL legs only, you will get sent to the domestic lounges prior.

The International Lounge from what I read is only for premium passengers flying either the entire MEL-PER-LHR & v.v flight, or those joining in PER for PER-LHR leg.

But I thought this was an international transit issue, not a domestic return flight issue.

So flying to an international destination you use the domestic lounge?
That seems odd to me.

T3 and T4 are the same building, similar to ADL with the use of the QP there

...

In PER that is. Flying soley domestic from MEL to PER you can access the First lounge as any other international pax.

This rule only applies to the PER International Transit Lounge.

That's better - the incorrect part was this bit:
Flying QF9/[...] for the MEL-PER/[...] legs only, you will get sent to the domestic lounges prior.
