Hi
Just received a new offer for a Citibank visa card with $1 for 1 point QF FF + a $49 additional FF charge and $250 annual card fee.
This comes on the back of endless Amex/QF offers which I have considered not worthwhile b/c of restrictions/additional fees on Amex transactions.
I'm not tuned to work these things out...
Presume others have received this. Is it a good deal for someone who saves up points to do an O/S trip every 2 years with maybe a domestic in between?
Views appreciated.
Thanks K

No.
For 1:1 get the Woolies Qantas Card. $89 annual fee, no FF fee, 12000 bonus at present (was 15000)

Concur with moa999. Have been using WOW Qantas Card for almost 3 months now and have found the points earning potential brilliant (especially because BPAY payments are counted in earning points). Previously had Citibank Plat but couldn't justify the fee compared to the WOW card.

Plus one! And didn't realise about the bpay payments, thank you :)

Citibank plat card comes with free travel insurance which could be an added bonus and significant savings if you use the card to pay for overseas airtickets (in particular month-long holiday in US and Europe), though both WOW and Citibank cards earn QF FF points.

How do you earn points through BPay? Is that

(1) using BPay to make payment to your WOW account; or
(2) making BPay payments from your WOW account to other biller?

If it is (2), wouldn't that be considered cash advance and therefore interest will be applied?

It depends on the Biller you are paying to. See this page:
anz.com/personal/ways-bank/bpay-view/ [sorry realised I can't post links yet].

Always check on the BPAY site whether the biller accepts credit cards. If they do not, it will be considered a cash advance - so I wouldn't recommend using it. I have found a number of merchants who do not advertise they accept direct CC payments though do accept BPAY payments (from a CC account). Can't understand why.

I have found this to be extremely good as many other CC providers do not count any BPAY payments toward points.

so if you go to the Bpay site and its says a bpayer only accepts payments from say Cheque, Savings or Debit Card.. then the WOW card's cash advance fee of the greater of $2.50 or 2% or the total will kick in, even if you have it in credit for the amount?

You earn points on BPAY payments only when the merchant also accept credit card as payment option. That being the case, why not just pay by credit card?
