New routes floated to ATH, SEA, ORD and LAS

ORD s AAs biggest hub after DFW and a great tourism destination as well as business.

Any extra services to North America, seasonal or not, are a good thing imo.

Would love some more services to Central and South America but obviously the demand just isn’t there. A direct flight to Brazil or Argentina might just get me interested in a Sunrise flight

Qantas used to fly direct to Buenos Aires on a 747 (i was on one of the last in March 2012) no sunrise flights needed to fly direct to Argentina, just demand.

They gave up Argentina for Chile, which made some sense when LAN was part of one world BUT now they could just as easily choose Lima or back to Buenos Aires. That said Chilean economy much more stable than Argentina's.

Not a chance in hell of a direct service to Central America. A flight to Sofia would be more viable 🤣

I agree that SEA seems the most plausible/sensible option being a great AS hub anyway, but its all academic and PR pipe dreams until QFi get some more aircraft, they can't even reliably fly their existing long haul network at the moment, so any more long haul destinations is very fanciful thinking.

Would prefer Athens and another South American 787 route, like SYD-PER-EZE, rather than more US destinations.

SYD-EZE is shorter than PER-EZE.

I doubt QF could support two South American routes unless one was direct to Brazil. SCL works because it's a gateway to the continent.

And you can get to Central America via LAX. What's your point?
I was only joking from a selfish POV as in the coming years it looks like the opportunity to head to Central America will become more frequent thanks to family moving there. Have been going over all the options and yes LAX does look like the best option

Actually easier via DFW or Miami which have more direct flights into Costa Rica which is the most tourist friendly of the Central American countries. Belize has some charm as does Panama but Nicaragua and Guatemala arent the safest places.

Too many people think Mexico is Central America when it is in fact part of North America (also easier to get to Mexico City and Cancun from DFW than LAX).

Yeah, but I didn't bring up MIA as I was thinking one stop option.

DFW is better connected but due to the late arrival of QF7 you may require an overnight stop. LAX is not too bad with AS connections. I've done both (actually probably more DFW than LAX, but my last trip to BZE was via LAX this year).

I wish someone would do a SYD-DEN/SLC/YYC non stop. Seasonal. Shorter than PER-CDG, SYD-DFW. Though DEN is elevated so there might be performance issues.

DFW is not a great connection hub TBH into these airports.

Who the hell wants to go to SLC? (I say that as someone who was there two weeks ago).

DEN would work (it has a 16,000 FT runway) but it would be operated by UA, and they can't even get LAX to work. US carriers seems to prefer west coast hubs.
