new SQ lounge at SYD

I was there a few weeks ago for the 1215pm departure...usual hot and cold stuff for breakfast but they also had a very nice Thai chicken green curry and Jasmine rice. Large range of wine, spirits, champagne etc. They have done a very good job with the renovation, it is very nice now, and barely recognisable compared to the old lounge! If there is any interest, I took a few pictures:)

I've only been to the F lounge. Very pleasant, not a whole lot of natural light. Quite a big food selection but it's pretty average. French champagne etc. Not worth getting to the airport early for but they've done a good job considering what was there previously!

thanks kpc. I have an upcoming flight this weekend, 1215 :) traveling Y so wanted to stuff up on good stuff before I board :)

I was there last week and was left disappointed. Unlike the above poster, I thought it was the same layout although some of the seating has changed with added cubicle type areas with wall mounted seating but the staff were nice and the food good.

I just expected better considering it was a new renovation but it's still an oasis from the outside so I'm not complaining.

its the food I am after Denali ;)
especially the Singapore style food SQ advertised.

Oh and I hated that the toilet entrance is in the open to everyone so you can see everyone that walks in and out plus breakfast seating/food is just a few steps away from the toilets. Uggh. Why would anyone think that's a good design.

It's Sydney with local cooks so don't expect too much but the basics.

hey Denali, that is one thing that does not surprise me given that old HDB houses in Singapore have toilet in the kitchen, a shocker when I saw it for the first time when spending some time looking for a rental place in Singapore earlier.

My reaction to agent showing the house was :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

thanks guys, have set lower expectations now..

one thing I cant really figure out is why is the SQ lounge at SIN not the best in class. Your port, you showcase the best.

Been there last week, also 12:15 departure. The lounge was nice and not too overcrowded. Has some chicken curry which was nice and the drinks selection was good.
It's a decent J lounge, no more, no less.

Excuse me for asking but why is thread in the VFF forum? Am I missing something that now says VA elites can use the SQ lounge in lieu of the NZ one?

hey cssaus, flying on SQ as a VA WP so have access to the SQ J lounge. Just wanted to check how is it post refurb and is it worth getting early to the airport.

I was there with the missus on Fri for an SQ flight departing 6pm. Food was mostly good (good beef rendang and chicken Thai green curry, awful roti, morish party pies, beef or chicken), good drinks selection with about 5 types of beer as well as spirits, fast wifi. Staff were nice and friendly.

Agree the toilets are in a really weird spot. Seriously taking the home (HDB flat) concept to the next level with the awkward placement. Perhaps next they'll offer a laundry service in the kitchen area?
