Hi guys, so after reading the forums here for ages I've finally signed up cos I have a few questions to ask. Firstly, I'm considering purchasing a Qantas Club membership rather than relying on the 2 free passes per year from AMEX and the $200 saving through AFF gold membership looks like the best option I can see ($150 saving I guess after the $50 AFF gold membership fee) - would that be right?

Secondly, I've read the T&C's concerning guest entry and am confident that my partner could accompany me as a guest (space permitting) at the QC's in Aust. but we are travelling to the US next Feb and I'm not sure of the rules for QC's there or any partner airline lounges. Anyone know the details?

We are flying SYD-JFK (via LAX) on QF107 (not sure how long the LAX stopover is but I was hoping there would be an available QC lounge there?) and then later flying from JFK-SFO (AA flight, am guessing there would be an equivalent lounge we would have access too? Anyone know guest rules?) and then later SFO-SYD again via LAX.

Finally, can anyone let me know what the QC renewal rates are like? Are they much of a saving on the initial 12 month membership fee?

Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

Welcome to AFF.

The $50 for gold AFF membership has a fair bit of value in its own right. Then take the $200 of the QP membership.

You will get a guest into Qantas Clubs and entry to AA lounges (Admirals Club) though I am not sure about taking a guest into the AA lounges but I believe it would be the same as the Qantas Clubs.

We are flying SYD-JFK (via LAX) on QF107 (not sure how long the LAX stopover is but I was hoping there would be an available QC lounge there?) and then later flying from JFK-SFO (AA flight, am guessing there would be an equivalent lounge we would have access too? QF107 arrives in LAX at 0615 (B747 or A380)and departs for JFK at 0850 at an A330. Someone will correct me but arrival would be at TBIT and departure from T4. The T4 lounge is a joint AA and QP.

Finally, can anyone let me know what the QC renewal rates are like? Are they much of a saving on the initial 12 month membership fee?
Qantas Club details are here.

Thanks Bill, all very helpful.

Unfortunately because I'm not currently a QC member when I click on the renewal link on that page it doesn't give me any info. Just curious as to whether the yearly renewal rates were much cheaper than the initial yearly membership cost.

Thanks,
Phil

The initial membership and joining fee is $805 for 1 year and then $435 for a 1 year renewal, if you are a resident of Australia for Tax purposes.

Thank you!

I'm assuming that the corporate renewal rate is around $350pa, does anyone know?

A very reliable post by admin followed here, confirms AFF corporate membership renewal rate at $355 for 1 year renewal and $625 for 2 year renewal. As it was only updated recently in May 2010 and it is also a sticky, I'm pretty sure (99.999999999%) that it's current at the time of this posting.

Welcome to AFF phildaley :p
