Hi all,
first time in about 15 years I have an "American Express" Qantas Ultimate card.
Doing the $1500.00 spend - not a problem to get the bonus 100,000 points.

But, what is the cheapest/easiest way to buy from Qantas directly to qualify for the free flight and lounge access???

I don't need/want Qantas Club membership, and my QFF membership is free, so does this mean I have to purchase a flight to get a free flight??

How have others managed to get this offer over the line?

Flight voucher should do the trick. As will paying the taxes on a reward flight

Many buy a $50 Qantas flight voucher to satisfy the purchase.

Thank you all. Knew our brightest on AFF would have a cleaver reply.
I intend to book award flights Syd/Akl in the next few weeks, did not think of the taxes portion.
After treating my husband to his first F flights last year, he commented over the weekend.... I want to fly F again - I liked it, thought the Amex 100,000 points would make a nice headway on that request.

Looks like I can't buy a $50.00 voucher to use against the taxes on a Award booking:

I believe I saw a post in the last week where someone paid less than $10 for carbon off-set on a ticket to trigger the award, or similar. Not sure how that works.. Someone else may have seen if they can confirm please.
