Virgin Australia - The romance is back
A lot goes into making an amazing airline - and over the past year, we have done just that.

We've transformed the look and feel of our aircraft and airport terminals. We've launched Business Class on domestic routes and enhanced our Velocity Frequent Flyer program. We've created an international network of over 400 destinations worldwide with our partner airlines.

But one thing hasn't changed. Our people - all eight thousand of them. They're the ones that set Virgin Australia apart and put the magic back into flying every day.

We're showcasing this through our new flagship campaign, featuring many of Virgin Australia's own employees and was filmed on the salt plains of Western Australia over a period of five days.

The commercial was directed by Australian director Daniel Askill, of Collider Films, well regarded for his work in the United States and Australia including music video, fashion and the arts. The soundtrack of the commercial features Australian artist Megan Washington performing "S'Wonderful" recorded and produced by Les Gock of Sound Thinking.

We're thrilled to share it with you!

Appears they don't employ any male cabin crew ;)

Though I get that 'sex sells'.

I hope then that future ads will feature the staff more than the cool effect of piecing together a plane, as it didn't really speak to me about the staff, seemed more like an afterthought.

Don't mind the advert overall though.

I don't mind the ad, but will it sell more seats !!! It is more of a case of keeping the brand name up there

Thats wide body, if you count the LTA they hit 27, which as a percentage puts them above Qantas group which sit at 25%.

Yeah, but zimbabwe airlines 2 aircraft - 1 737 and 1 767 gives them 50%

regardless of how you bend it.....

Is it me, or does it seem like DJ is still going for that young/"good looking" type of FA?

I have noticed McDonalds going for that younger leaner look with their burgers in their ads, neither are truly representative of the product you end up with ;)

Actually I've been noticing an abundance of middle aged and older cabin crew this year - I was actually talking to two of them who came back to flying with VA after retiring when Ansett collapsed!

Just saw the new add on TV - looks fabulous on a quality wide screen.

I flew MEL-LAX-MEL in J on VA recently - i'll post my opinions in another thread shortly.

Best of ten or so J trips this week was a CSM who had joined DJ after five years with EY, joined JQ at launch.

It's a good ad, catchy classy tune, interesting visuals - it gets your attention. And much better than that whiny noise that the other team have.

JQ out of the equation I can't remember the last time I sat on a QF flight and it didn't have some type of IFE... DJ on the other hand was my last flight the other week.

And aren't they removing LTA anyway?

Same here for DJ, and I did 10 flights last week, don't mind the Galaxy Tabs but they need more content ;). You should try a few more QF QLD flights if you like reading.

the new ad is featuring during the AFL grandfinal today..no surprises given they are the 'official AFL carrier'... slighty offtopic.they did an a330 low flyover of the MCG..sorry but that was very underwhelming!!!! give me a QF a380 low flyover any day!!!

Seems to reinforce the sexist roles, women were in FA (serving) roles and the few men featured were pilots.
As previously noted all the people in the ad were young and good looking. Not realistic.

Surely in this day and age an advertisement should reflect reality and have people of both genders featured in both roles?
