I'll be there for a month and maybe others are also visiting. It is a great time in NY, NY with spring weather warmer temperatures.

As a suggestion, I asked around and came up with Le Rivage. It has a big menu so hopefully something for everyone and seems to get consistently reasonable reviews.

There’s a prix fixe dinner menu on Mondays, for $29 for any 3 courses from the menu.

Subscribing.

Also, I recommend you look at FT as there are plenty of ad hoc and regular events in and around NYC

Do note that the 29th would be Memorial Day in the USA, a holiday in the USA that lots of people have off (a rare beast indeed!). Expect hotels to be more expensive that weekend, and the restaurant to be more crowded. Also, if you can, check when the NYU and/or Columbia University graduations are, as those may put a little pressure on prices/occupancy.

Thanks, if we get a few people we can narrow down the date later. I was there this May, and already have a hotel booked for next May (and hope to get a BRG again), and there was no change to the hotel rate on Memorial Day. I did see that some of the family small businesses were closed on the Monday holiday.

Hopefully, this provides an oppo to meet some locals.

April and Sept are usually my work travel months, but occasionally I do May.

Put me down as a long shot

Too early for me to plan, but with NYC being a short hop from London - it's quite possible.

Usually worse as it gets closer, so if you choose that weekend, anyone booking hotels might want to firm up their reservations a little sooner. Just a note :).

I live just about 1500 miles away (about the same distance as CNS-MEL) so I probably don't count as a local :D.

And Memorial Day weekend is OzFest for FTers in AU.

Ooh yes you do, can't get out of it that easily.

Bugger! :D

I shouldn't complain much, that is 6000 miles less than 90% of the people reading this post :D.

Way too far in advance, but the 22nd would probably work best for me.

Also, good news, both Columbia and NYU are having commencement ceremonies on Wednesday the 17th of May. So you're clear there.

Rejuvenating this for a possible NYC meet up. Rereading the TheBOSman's advice, subscriptions, long shots etc, it seems as if we could aim for 22 May as a start. Is anyone around then?

Or, maybe suggest some other days that are not Memorial Day (29 May w/end), or Graduation days (17 May).

Sadly I'm now booked most of May. On the 22nd (a Monday) I'll actually be in Jasper, Alberta, Canada! But I can still offer advice on things to do if interested in New York.
